Cedar Lake Give Back Day - NEW INFORMATION!

The Cedar Lake Camp Director reached out to us today to give us a better idea of what they'll need assistance with on April 29th. They will be starting out around 8:00 AM (but if you need to show up later any help is appreciated).

There are downed trees and roofs covered in pine needles so if anyone has chainsaws or leaf blowers, those will be helpful.

They would also like to add a small deck to the craft building (between the tavern and the NPC cabins). We've asked for more information, but it sounds like a relatively simple project. Once we have more details we'll update this post, but if you're interested in helping with that project let us know.

There is likely to be an assortment of other task involving opening up and cleaning out the assorted buildings, so there will be plenty of work to go around.

If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to ask them

Looking forward to seeing everyone who can come out for the day.

How is the power at the site? Any 3-prong outlets to run extension cords or charge cordless tools? (I forget)

Deck construction sounds doable, certainly something where we need the plan ahead of time, more so then general cleaning. Other wise people are going to show up at 8, or when ever, then stare at things, then make some choices and go to home depot like 5 times throughout the day. Then realize that footings take time to cure, then we don't finish. Also how much is the chapter donating? Are we providing labor, and camp person is buying materials? Usually Home Depot or Lowes will 'pull' stuff if we let them know ahead of time, but we'll need a materials list.

Can you get information on what they want done with the downed trees? Getting them off the roof, is one thing, sure we can cut them up somewhat. Are we then hauling them across the camp to some wood pile? Are the renting a wood chipper for us?

Same question with all the cleaning. Do we need yard waste bags or hefty bags? I'll bring one wheel barrow.

There's a fair number of outlets onsite. Matt's planning on bringing a couple of power strips, chargers, and a bunch of the Ryobi rechargeable tools in case they're needed.

As far as organization, we've essentially been told to show up and the camp director will have a plan.

If we do move forward with the deck project the camp director has indicated that all the supplies will be provided.

Other than the chainsaws and leaf blowers we haven't been asked to bring anything, but we've got a couple weeks so if that changes we'll post something here.

Just a reminder that Give Back Day at Cedar Lake is this Saturday. There is a chance of rain but unless we hear otherwise from the camp director we'll be out there at 8:00 AM getting things done.

If anything changes we'll make sure to post here and on Facebook.

If you have questions or concerns day-of, feel free to give Matt a call 248.320.1981

Neglected to get a proper group selfie but got team "make it out of whatever you find" well documented.

That's a fine picture of not a grandfather clock.
