Changes

The wave of change that has swept through the land has left few and little unchanged. Isawda was no longer what he had been, but he was still who he had always been. Now his features only reflected his mothers people, no trace of his father race remained. While he had abandoned some of his skills and professions, and no longer qualified for high office among the Earth Weavers, that circle was still his home.

Apparently the changes ran even deeper than he had suspected. He sat in the Earth Circle with bared steel in his lap and watched "the Duke" join the wedding, by invitation!. And thus protected by the laws of hospitality. Isawda watched in disbelief and rising sadness as many who had faced the vile creature in battle, now nodded in polite attendance to his words, some seeming to almost fawn over him and his tattered rank of nobility. Some even were oath sworn Earthweavers, pledged to stand against all know users of Necromancy.

None seemed offended by what walked by his side, none seemed to remember his prior actions, none seems to remember their impassioned oaths of the past. It seemed these were not longer the people he had once known and been proud to stand beside. Some were new and many were changed, but this was clearly no longer even a shadow of the ragged group of "Breachers" he has once been so proud to have called himself a part of.

Pulling from his neck the cord that bore what had been two of his three dearest possessions, he stepped out into the sunshine and walked toward the Fatespinner and the Duchess. Time and past time to return his badge of membership in the Earthweavers and the favor the Duchess had granted him in a far different time. They might accept them or not, but he would never again wear either, alone on the cord would remain his old memory stone. While his blood no longer let him share the memories it contained, it did contain memories of a better, a prouder, an more honor bound time.

With those two matters attended to, it would then be time for him to walk into the woods and seek out his mothers people in their distant homelands. Perhaps there he would find again some who would not take tea with creatures of the darkness.
