Camp Reynoldswood Indoor Combat Policy

Per Camp Reynoldswood ownership’s safety regulations, any kind of combat (packet, boffer, or otherwise) is not allowed in any indoor venue. This restriction includes the Tavern, Bunkhouse (PC dorms, NPC camp), and any other indoor setting Alliance Chicago may use on site in the future.

We expect players not to manipulate or otherwise exploit this policy for their own gain. We recognize this policy changes the indoor game setting, however this policy is designed to respect the wishes of the site where we are guests.

Fade from Party

At any point in which a player feels like they need to remove themselves from a game situation, whether they are experiencing physical or emotional pain, fatigue, panic, or for any other personal reasons that the player believes it is necessary for that player to step away from the situation, they may call "Fade From Party" and that player should physically leave the location completely. They will assign another player in the scene as their fade to party member before walking away with hands on their head, then putting on a white headband on as soon as they are able. This nomination player acknowledges that the FFP player’s character is still in the scene and is “attached” to their nominated player. Should the nominated player resurrect during the scene while the FFP player is away, it will happen to the FFP character as well.

If a staff member was not present or doesn’t know about the situation, one person, player or NPC, should quickly locate and inform staff. All other players should carry on as normal. Staff will speak with the FFP player and summon the Medical Marshal or any other persons needed if necessary. Later, when the member returns to game, that member should not be ostracized or otherwise punished in or out of the game for choosing to Fade From Party. Fade From Party is intended as a safety measure for member’s who need it and should not be used to escape or otherwise avoid an In Game situation. Taking Fade From Party is always a member’s choice. The goal of Fade From Party is to always protect our members. When (if) the player is ready to return to the game, they should speak with staff or NPC’ before returning to their nominated player into the scene or the module.
 
Chicago Alliance LARP Footwear Policy


Chicago Alliance LARP is a physically inclined game which is held in the setting of the great outdoors. The outdoor environment means that the ground may become uneven, wet, slippery, etc. at times depending on weather, the area and props that are used during the event. As such, footwear must be appropriate for this environment and the activities included during an event. Chicago Alliance Staff holds the right to ask a member to change their footwear or not participate if the following guidelines are not followed once a person is declared or appears to be “In Game”. These guidelines are for NPC and PC alike. Please note that a member may wear whatever footwear preferred when that person is considered “OUT OF GAME”. The following guidelines are set in place to prevent injuries and unsafe conditions during a Chicago Alliance Event during:

  • Footwear must not have a heel more than 1” tall
  • Footwear must not be considered a dress shoe
  • Footwear must contain the entire foot providing support and a closed toe.
  • Footwear must be worn at all times outside of sleep.


Please note that certain NPC’s may have exceptions to this rule, however, those NPC’s will never be engaged in combat.


Chicago Alliance LARP Events that are declared as “combat free” or “no combat events” are excluded from this policy and it’s terms.
 
Chicago Alliance LARP Harassment Policy

Chicago Alliance LARP, as a whole, including; staff, owners, players and volunteers, is committed to maintaining an environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. Each individual has the right to play in an environment free from discriminatory harassment based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, veteran or military status, or membership in any other class protected by applicable federal, state, or local law. In keeping with this commitment, Chicago Alliance LARP will not tolerate discriminatory harassment of members at game, or game related activities by anyone. Chicago Alliance LARP is committed to promptly investigating all complaints of discriminatory harassment, and to taking prompt and effective remedial action to stop such conduct from occurring.

Definition and Examples of Discriminatory Harassment
Discriminatory Harassment consists of unwelcome conduct, whether verbal, visual or physical, that is based on an individual’s protected status, such as race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, veteran or military status, or membership in any other class protected by applicable federal, state, or local law, that creates an intimidating, coercive, hostile, or offensive environment. Examples of this type of conduct may include, but are not limited to: making slurs or epithets; stereotyping; removing accommodations or corrective devices provided to or used by a disabled individual; and excluding individuals from the use of, or making them feel uncomfortable in their use of, facilities because of their race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, veteran or military status, or membership in any other class protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.

Sexual Harassment is a specific type of discriminatory harassment consisting of unwelcome or unwanted sexual attention, sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal, visual, or physical conduct or a sexual nature or other offensive behavior directed towards a member because of, or on account of, their gender or sexual orientation. Examples of the types of conduct that may constitute sexual harassment include, but are not limited to: unwelcome sexual advances, propositions, flirtations, demands for sexual favors; unwanted and unnecessary physical contact (such as grabbing, rubbing, patting, pinching, touching, or hugging); demands for sexual favors in exchange for favorable treatment; display of pornographic material; excessively offensive remarks, including unwelcome graphic or suggestive comments about an individual’s body, appearance, dress, sexual prowess or deficiencies; obscene jokes; the display of sexually suggestive objects or pictures; and any other unwelcome or unwanted conduct of sexual nature, such as leering, whistling, staring, name calling.

Reporting Harassment
Chicago Alliance LARP encourages members who believe that they are being harassed to promptly notify the offender(s) that the behavior is unwelcome and must stop immediately.

If a member chooses not to confront the offending individual(s) directly, or if the conduct continues after they have told the individual(s) to stop, the member should immediately inform a Chicago Alliance LARP staff member.

Members who witness or who have information regarding discriminatory harassment are also encouraged to report such information promptly to Chicago Alliance LARP staff.


Investigating Complaints
Chicago Alliance LARP will investigate all allegations of discriminatory harassment in as thorough, prompt, and confidential manner as is reasonably possible. Chicago Alliance LARP will undertake all inquiries with due regard to the privacy of all parties involved consistent with a thorough and appropriate investigation.


Retaliation is Strictly Prohibited
Chicago Alliance LARP, as a whole, including; staff, owners, players and volunteers, will not retaliate against an individual who, in good faith, makes a report of discriminatory harassment or provides information concerning an act of discriminatory harassment, nor permits any member to do so. Retaliation is a serious violation of this policy and will not be tolerated. Persons who engage in retaliatory activity are in direct violation of this policy and will be disciplined accordingly, up to and including immediate suspension. Complaints and information of retaliation are subject to the same reporting, investigation, and remedial procedures as harassment complaints.

Resolving the Complaint
If Chicago Alliance LARP determines that a member has violated this policy against discriminatory harassment and retaliation, disciplinary action will be taken commensurate with Chicago Alliance LARP’s judgement as to the seriousness of the particular offense, up to, and including, immediate suspension or banning. Disciplinary action imposed on a member may include, without limitation, one or more of the following: a verbal and/or written reprimand; temporary suspension; or an indefinite ban.

While this policy sets forth Chicago Alliance LARP’s standards for promoting a game that is free from discriminatory harassment, this policy does not limit Chicago Alliance LARP’s authority or ability to discipline or take any other remedial action for game conduct determined to be inappropriate, regardless of whether the conduct meets the definition of discriminatory harassment.

Chicago Alliance LARP is committed to enforcing this policy in order to ensure that all members are able to enjoy a game that is free from discriminatory harassment and retaliation. It is expected that all members will be committed to making this policy a success.
 
LCO Magic Item Policy

Due to bylaw updates, Alliance Chicago accepts up to 20 standard effect LCO rituals from other chapters. However, any item that has non standard effects will be denied if from out of chapter.

NPC Policy: All full event NPCs are given 100 goblin stamps per logistics period in addition to the double xp standard within Alliance.
Anyone who jumps ship for 4 hours are given a full boat of protectives, filled spell stores if they have them, and are healed to full as well.
 
Profession/Craftsman Other

Alliance Rule Book: “Profession: This skill is used to add flavor to your character. It cannot be used to give a character any extra power in-game nor does it guarantee any information from the Local Plot Committee, although the Local Plot Committee may take it into consideration when distributing information or plotlines…. For every Profession skill bought, a character will receive either one silver piece or one Crafting Material at check-in for each Logistics Period of the event they are checking in for.”


Goals:
1) To endow players with Profession possible additional narrative facets and story.
2) To treat all additional uses and instances of the Profession ability equally.


Policy: During an event, characters with Professions may gain additional information. During In-Between Game Actions, characters with Professions may gain additional information as well as additional abilities or actions.


Implementation:
During an Event. At the beginning of a module, a plot marshal may ask players if they have Professions they believe are applicable to the module. If the plot marshal determines a player’s Profession to be relevant, that player will receive additional information. This information may be narrative, expositional, or even inconsequential in nature. The discussion is intended to be short, direct, and to not overly extend the pre-module discussion. Players may follow up after the module with additional questions. The plot marshal is the final arbiter of applicability.

Players may not stop the module to inquire if their Profession is relevant or otherwise seek information from their Profession.

In-Between Game Actions. When calling for In-Between Game Actions, the plot team will offer an opportunity for players to detail applicable Professions

After reviewing the included Professions, the plot team member writing the response may confer additional information based on the Profession. The plot member may also allow the character additional abilities, actions, or story as part of the response. These additions to the response will be purely narrative in nature and will not affect any XP, Class, Race, Deaths, or other "hard Characteristics" of the character.

Online Code Of Conduct

Rules and Code of Conduct for Online Interactions:
1. Racism, sexism, ableism, bigotry, homophobia, transphobia, or hate speech of any kind, directed at any specific demographic or person will not be tolerated.
2. Please leave all Out of Game (OOG) personal religious and political views on your personal online portals as we will not be allowing it inside our online footprint.
3. Be mindful of other members, and if someone tells you that you’re doing something which makes them uncomfortable, be respectful and adjust your behavior. If someone is making you uncomfortable and does not correct their behavior upon being asked, or you are uncomfortable speaking with them, please reach out to Staff.
4. Be aware that because we are a versatile and inclusive community, we expect members to respect proper pronouns, be receptive to gentle correction, and, above all, welcome all people and lifestyles.
5. Please keep all interactions within our server Safe For Work (SFW). If you’re not sure what this means then please ask a mod/admin/Staff.
6. Leave other servers’, other chapters’, Facebook, and Twitter issues elsewhere.
7. If you have an issue with someone, or believe they are not following our rules, require an invite link for a new person, or anything else please contact Staff. A list of Staff is always available through the #General-discussion under the member list. And one will be posted and updated accordingly in the CoC Channel.

If you have any further questions, then don't be afraid to ask any Staff member.

Carding system for Online Interactions:
1. Yellow Card- First offense. There will be a private message sent to the recipient to advise them that they have violated the code of conduct, earned a Yellow Card, and advised to change behaviors. This action will be recorded in the Chapter’s conduct database.
2. Red card- Second offense. There will be a private message sent to the recipient to advise them that they have continued to violate the code of conduct, earned a Red Card, and they will be Muted on the server for 72 hours. This action will be recorded in the Chapter’s conduct database.
3. Server Ban - If the Yellow Card and Red Card does not diminish behavior. The conduct will be brought to Senior Staff for review. If the Senior Staff feels it is appropriate a server ban will occur. The review and/or ban will be recorded in the Chapter’s conduct database. After six months if appeal is requested, or behavior on other online formats has been matching the code of conduct a new review by Senior Staff will occur which may result in reversing the ban or upholding it.
4. Permanent Ban from Alliance Chicago LARP. If behavior is habitual, unrepentant, or especially egregious the Owner may permanently ban the offender in perpetuity from Alliance Chicago. This extends to all online formats and physical events.

Typically a verbal warning in which Staff reach out to explain the situation and invite improved behavior may be applied before reaching the severity of the above mentioned steps, which will then be followed in order, but the Chapter and its Staff reserve the right to escalate directly to any step in the process as needed or required by grievance being addressed.

This document applies to all Chapter Online portals, including the Alliance Forums, The Alliance Chicago LARP Discord, the Alliance Chicago LARP Facebook page and others. It does not apply to your personal formats, however, it is highly encouraged to recognize that your behavior in your personal spaces may reflect on you. Especially if you are Staff of the Chapter. We are all adults striving to better our community and should act with respect and caring for each other.
 
Service Dogs and Emotional Support Animals (ESA)

Chicago Alliance LARP is a membership based club running private events on closed sites. At this time, we do not allow Emotional Support Animals(ESA), Service Dogs, or pets of any kind on site before, during, or after a sanctioned Alliance LARP Chicago event is to be held.
 
New Player and Recruit a Friend Policy

First time alliance players get to play for free in Chicago Alliance! Just pay 20 bucks to cover yearly membership.

The person who recruits them will get up to 24 dragon stamps! These dragonstamps will be generated as following: 6 dragon stamps for each of the first 3 events, and 6 dragon stamps if the new player does one of the special start up packages. (claimable up to 1 month after their last attended event.)

Two special options to generate additional build and gear will be offered to new players. Payable before their second event.
  • Double Down! Is a $75 donation to generate 450 goblin stamps which can be used to get monthly blankets and back blanket events resulting in significantly more starting build. Plus a bonus 20 crafting material worth of random production at check in.

Page Policy

A Page is a person who elects not to be hit with weapons due to an injury, physical handicap, or even just personal preference at any Chicago Alliance LARP event. All Pages must communicate with staff prior to the event that that person is indeed a Page. During the event, it is possible to become a Page if the person feels it is necessary, to do this, please find a staff member to notify what has happened to cause this change and to announce that the person is now a Page.

Chicago Alliance LARP will have two forms of Pages with different types of play to accommodate all Lifestyles. All Pages are required to wear a bright orange headband that says “PAGE” clearly written on the headband at ALL times while IN GAME. It MUST be a headband. Orange crowns, flowers, hats, or other headwear are not headbands. All Pages are also required to wear orange glow sticks on the headband after dusk and before dawn for visibility. If planning to be a Page during an event please plan on providing your own headband and glow sticks, however, staff will have a limited supply on hand should one be needed. Pages may hold weapons, but may not wield or utilize weapons during their time as a page, exceptions below.

Page Form #1 (Packet Page) - This style of a Page allows the person Paging to be hit with any packets including arrow packets but may not be hit with weapons. All weapon attacks will be made by pointing a weapon at the page with the tip of the weapon being no closer than 6” from the Page. The attacker will state “Page…5 normal, Page….5 normal” (or other applicable attack) until the attack is stopped by some form of defense. The 6” ruling is for ALL forms of attacks including killing blows. This style of page only requires the bright orange headband that says “PAGE” on it at all times while IN GAME. Packet pages may participate in combat with packets only. This includes spell and crossbow packets. The only weapon a packet page may wield is a crossbow.

Page Form #2(Full Page) – This style of Page does not allow any physical contact from packets, weapon or personal contact. All weapon attacks will be made by pointing a weapon at the Page with the tip of the weapon being no closer than 6” from the Page. The attacker will state “Page…5 normal, Page….5 normal”(or other applicable attack) until the attack is stopped by some form of defense. The 6” ruling is for ALL forms of attacks including killing blows. This style of Page requires a bright orange headband that says “PAGE” on it as well as a bright orange sash running from shoulder to the opposite hip at all times while IN GAME.

Due to the standard pieces of identifying costuming that Pages must wear, no other PC or NPC may be allowed to wear an orange headband or orange sash. If a person is seen wearing these objects and is not Paging, staff reserves the right to ask said person to remove such clothing. The headband and or sash is considered out of game. Any other costuming that is worn by any player or NPC is acceptable and shall not in turn label that person as a Page.

To comply with this policy, in addition to any active combat, activities which might lead to, or foment, spontaneous combat will also be restricted in those settings. Restricted activities including burglary ("rogueing"), use of Contact or food-distributed (i.e. poisoned) Alchemy, and any Area of Effect Traps.

We expect players not to manipulate or otherwise exploit this policy for their own gain. We recognize this policy changes the indoor game setting, however this policy is designed to respect the wishes of the site where we are guests.

“Let’s Take This Outside”

As an addendum to Camp Reynoldswood Indoor Combat Policy, Alliance Chicago is instituting the “Let’s Take This Outside” policy. While in any of the locations where combat is restricted due to the Indoor Combat Policy (e.g. Tavern, Bunkhouse, etc.), any PC or NPC can point at another PC or NPC and loudly declare, “Let's take this outside”. As soon as the declaration is made, a Time Out is called for the people in the immediate vicinity. Both the aggressor and the target must then immediately proceed to the closest exit while yelling “Let’s take this outside!” to indicate the fight that is transpiring. Others in the vicinity may follow but must do so immediately. Neither the aggressor nor the target can refuse once the declaration is made.

Anyone involved may grab anything within arm's reach on their way out but cannot stray from a direct path to the exit. Once both the aggressor and the target are outside, they should situate themselves into a roughly similar posture as they held inside and then immediately call Lay-On after the usual 3-Count. The target cannot return indoors until Line of Sight has been broken with the aggressor for 10 seconds or after the combat has ended. Being inside a Circle of Power, Ward, behind a Wall of Force, or other similar protection (as decided by a Marshal) grants immunity to “Let’s Take This Outside”. This action is obvious to everyone in the vicinity and is considered a physical attack.

“Let’s Take This Outside” has been created to offer more options to PC and NPCs in regards to the Indoor Combat Policy. This is always considered a hostile action and may result in In-Game legal and social repercussions depending on the circumstances. We expect PCs and NPCs not to manipulate or otherwise exploit this policy for their own gain.
