Chapter Status Update

2020 has been a most unusual year, and all of us have had to make significant adjustments to our lives and our plans. This Pandemic will not last forever and eventually we will return to normalcy, but sadly that is not in the next few months. Thus, the staff of Alliance Chicago are making the call to officially cancel the 2020 season as we know it. We are a community and we will move forward together in good health and good conscience.

What does this actually mean?

  • The remaining Scheduled Events through the January 2021 “Feast Day” will not be held. They are, however, still available for credit via Goblins in the CMA. Purchase of secondary blankets are also available.
  • We are planning to offer private module events for the remainder of 2020. As long as Illinois remains in Phase 4, we will host modules for up to 8 people using a highly modified ruleset. Private modules may include treasure and specific NPCs at Plot discretion. Availability is dependent on scheduling, weather, and other Chapter considerations. The events will be in the CMA and allowed to be blanketed by anyone (30 Goblins). Anyone in attendance will be asked to pay a small event fee.
  • A Viktor Hook plot line “small-group module” is available for up to 8 PCs at a time. This small-group mod will include: treasure; an hour of “open” roleplaying; ritual casting; and a single “RP NPC” chosen from a list made available by the plot team. This will be the first of such “Private Modules” full details will be posted in the near future.
  • We will be hosting a trio of major Discord events and two lesser Discord RP events to take place over each originally scheduled weekend! Details forthcoming!
  • Adventure IBGAs were recently sent and the Summer IBGAs will be sent next week. Each major Discord event will generate a round of IBGAs. Expect another Adventure IBGA as we move into the Fall. Details forthcoming!
  • Logistics has been tracking various treasure and rewards and will continue to do so for our online experiences and contests whatever is owed to characters will be in their envelope for the next time we meet in person.
  • The 2020 Season pass has already paid out the 1,000 Goblins plus refund Goblins for every event you blanketed that was cancelled (1,600 total Goblins). This does not change. However, we are offering two additional options to compensate those who purchased a Season Pass: one, roll over the Season Pass to 2021 and receive full paid admission to all events of 2021 as though you had purchased it normally; two, turn your 2020 Season Pass into a Nationals Donation and gain 2:5 Dragon Stamps plus 2:1 Gobbies in four chapters based on the full price you paid for the Pass! Go ahead and send an email to logistics@chicagoalliancelarp.com to let us know your preference anyone who does not let us know by August 1st will be rolled over to the 2021 pass option.

The staff is working hard on next year’s plot lines, props, and will ROCK IT! That is a promise! Look for more announcements as we advance into winter and start prepping for 2021, the best year of LARP after the year that “wasn’t”. In the meantime, we are following all Covid-19 developments and will change plans accordingly, so stay tuned for further updates.

In addition, we are adding a member to our customer service team. Welcome Jay on board as our new DEI representative (Diversity, Equality, Inclusivity)! Anyone who has a matter that touches that topic can seek them out at an event or direct emails to them by adding DEI or Jay in the subject line. Ryan, Derek, and Jay are an amazing team to help with all customer service topics! They will loop Rob in as needed.

Please forward any questions to customerservice@chicagoalliancelarp.com

Your Chicago Alliance Larp Staff

Hi friends!

This seems a good place to introduce myself in case there are some folks in this thread I haven't met already; I'm Jay and I am super excited for the chance to start paying forward all of the things that have made the Chicago chapter such a fun place to larp!

Stay safe, wash your hands, and I'll see you all online for now and in person for the 2021 season!
