Free Comic Book day in Lawrenceville is being officially run by the city of Lawrenceville and will be a single day convention held at the city center and downtown square area. This year the event coordinator reached out to us to help them in growing this small regional convention by expanding their offering out further than just comic books and cosplay as in years past. They will be hosting panels (which we will be one of!) in the newly built Lawrenceville Arts Center Cabaret Theatre along with vendors and photoshoot opportunities. There will also be a D&D TTRPG meet-up, public play, and workshop at Slow Pour in the Depot District, while Iron Shield will host a tabletop gaming experience. Iron Shield Brewing will also be releasing their in-house brew called “Warhammer” and have expressed interest in having a Fantasy/Medieval aspect to their space if possible (so bring those costumes and lets grab a bite or a pint afterwards!!).
As LARP is an avenue of living out the stories you normally only get a chance to read about they believe that we will be a great fit to help bring more general awareness of opportunities to get involved in LARP here locally and around the region. We will have a booth area (between two breweries!) to talk to passers-by about LARP, hold some combat, and show them what it’s all about – and it’s another chance to get in costume (though not required!). We will be there on May 7th from around 12PM to 4PM, and volunteering will earn you 25 Dragon Stamps, which can be used for monthly national XP blankets, getting XP for missed events at other chapters, or creating national magic items that can travel between chapters. They're hard to come by, so this is a great way to earn some! The event starts at 10AM, so feel free to come early to listen in on some panels, shop for comics, or hop into a D&D game, all of which will be happening concurrently.
