Friends,

Over the last several weeks, Taliya and I have been traveling, both to the Blackened Reaches, then to Elara.

I cannot stress the importance of this, but -do not travel alone-. Taliya and myself barely possessed enough power to combat the threats we came across, and we're highly-skilled magic users.

Here's what I learned from my allies, the House of the Open Fist, regarding two Houses of Elara:

The House of Broken Reason

The House of Broken Reason specializes in magic and administration within the Perditus Regnum. Their focus is first and foremost on making the lands survivable. This includes battling back the forest as it encroaches, fending off anything that attempts to gain unauthorized entrance, and enforcing the laws of the nation equitably amongst the two cultures living within Elara. Outside of that they are expected to manage the day to day community within the cities of the underbrush.

Nearly all members of the House of Broken Reason, who are allowed, have an apprentice. Only after 100 years in service is a member not required to take on an apprentice, though most find having an apprentice extremely useful, and it is considered a point of honor to have an apprentice who excels. Apprentices are held to the same standards as their masters, as such Knights, Lords, and the Patron/Matron are very selective of whom they accept as an apprentice so as to not burden a new member of the house with great responsibility. To be the apprentice of the Patron or Matron of the house is specifically a great honor for your family amongst the Dark Elves of the Perditus Regnum. As such many of the great families within the nation will send gifts of all types to the Notable members of the House, just in case they should one day be the Patron or Matron, and have need of an apprentice.

All members of the House of Broken Reason start as an Apprentice to another member, and are considered to have finished with their apprenticeship when they become a Justice within the nation. Many Justices will continue their apprenticeship until the time their Master considers them an equal. Because of this, families often compete to have their children apprenticed to high profile members of the house.

The following titles below are used within the House.

● Apprentice

● Exchequer

● Justice

● Magistrate

● Lord

● Knight

The House is led by Matron Vekk Zar a stalwart Celestial Templar, known for hard justice. The Lord Mage Ande Korvane, and Lord Knight Kortha Caro are both extremely fervent in the protection of their peoples rights. Lastly the new Lord Seneschal Mika d’Tempest, just recently was released from his apprenticeship by Vekk Zar.

The House of the Moon Stalkers

The House of the Moon Stalkers is known for their martial prowess, and sapping skills.

To a member of the House of the Moon Stalkers, anything they can get their hands upon can be made into something dangerous. They work from the time they are inducted into the house until the day they leave on how to be more destructive.

The House of the Moon Stalkers is organized in a militaristic fashion Squires of Knights

are generally considered Captains and regularly command Sergeants on missions.

● Soldier

● Sergeant

● Squire

● Knight

● Lord Knight

The House of the Moon Stalkers is responsible for providing the martial support to guarding the perimeter of the nation and excursions into the Blackened Reaches. They are the first line of offense within the Perditus Regnum against any threat to the nation, or a person within. All envoys from the cities of Elara are escorted by a cadre of Moon Stalkers on the floor of the Jungle. They have become masters of blending into the brush, and are rarely seen outside of the city, unless they intend to be. The House of the Moon Stalkers also has embraced using explosives as a means to an end. All members are eventually taught to make, set, and disarm traps. Any Knight of the house is considered to be a master of Demolitions. Because of this,
within Elara the Knights of The House of the Moon Stalkers are also the ones whom oversee the city planning, and construction of buildings for structural soundness.

Notable members of the House of the Moon Stalkers

The house is led by Matron Aderlia Celidar the preeminence in demolitions within Elara. The Lord Mage/Seneschal Garthet Celidar is Matron Celidar’s father and also the only Lord to hold two positions within all of the Dark Elf Kingdoms. The Lord Knight Yallana Loriansha is renowned for having never been touched by a blade.

The ranking system of the Savage Legion, as listed in a journal by one who managed to get himself "recruited.":

Dreadnaught - The Immortal Generals, they have powerful ritual magics upon them that keep them from dying. They can still die from old age.

Marauder - extremely powerful and greatly enhanced by rituals, most have some ability to return from death

Ravager - nothing seen lead the individual to believe that a ravager is any better than a reaper, maybe just a higher kill count. (Investigation was not concluded - Zeth).

Reaper - apparently attained by killing another reaper, need more investigation. (Investigation was not concluded - Zeth)

Pack Master - ability to lead groups of animals or other goblins.

Additional entries -

04049655- I don’t know how long I can last amongst this level of savagery. The goblins throw themselves in the way of the Dwarven bolts with glee, but then as they lay there dying..the regret fills their mouths as they are trampled under the feet of those rushing to meet the same fate. It is almost as if they take pleasure in the thought of perishing, were it not for one of their Ogre’s, last night I would have met the same fate. The Ogre’s seem different from the rest, almost as if they are somehow above, or excluded from, the rampant need to end their existence.

091210609- I was led to believe that the Barbarian was also a spy, I have been deceived… Their animals will likely track me down, and in an effort to not lead them to our drop I had to make this short.

-Each force is led by a Dreadnaught, an immortal general, every Dreadnaught has a number of marauders that see to their attacks, the marauders seem to have ravagers who are akin to their personal squires, they also have reapers who lead their armies to the gates of the civilizations. This is the totality of their working systems. There is no other structures, or lineages, or titles that I have seen, and surprisingly little organization beyond the structures I have detailed previously. I have heard stories though that speak of an immortal general dying,... This apparently causes no lack of chaos amongst those who were following the dreadnaught as they fall upon each other at a grasp for power. It is said that the goblin who leads the legion I have attached myself to routinely culls the marauders and ravagers beneath him to keep them fearful.

This is what I was able to learn. I hope others are willing to share what they have learned, as well.
