Insuance costs

I am working with a company to create a nation wide LARP insurance policy. The hope is to make a cheap, per attendee per event policy. In order to find out if this would be a viable system I was hoping that some chapter owners would pm me some info:

Cost of current policy
average number of attendees (PC, NPCS and staff)
Number of events per year.

I won't be sharing this information with anyone.

Thanks in advance.

¡A National Insurance Policy that is cheap, beneficial, covers all regardless of region/income, benefits the game, and snuggles babies to sleep at night! Take your commie ideas back to Berlin, pinko!

I know of several chapters who set themselves up as venture troops so that they get coverage under the boy scouts insurance. You could look into what that coverage is like.

Other LARPs have as well. The Scouts are reasonably LARP-friendly folks, and I've seen more than one game pair up with them as Explorer Scouting troops.

I have found several people to be terribly opposed to the Boy Scouts and were actually offended when they found out that we are associated with them. The offense was less when they discovered that we just basically pay them lip service for the insurance, but they were not happy none-the-less. I wouldn't be surprised that some people may be driven away by the association, though.

Granted, being associated with the Boy Scouts has additional benefits other than good insurance rates such as lower cost of some camp sites ... It is just that some people would choose to cut the Boy Scouts out altogether if they could find an alternative even if it did cost a little more.

I suspect the above activity is to try and create an insurance company / policy that does not rely on becoming associated with the Boy Scouts.

From what I have received so far, you'd save over a grand on insurance by going through the Boy Scouts. Granted, there are more hurdles to jump and some technicalities that could cause serious trouble if things went the wrong way but with the savings involved, it is hard to beat the Scouts.
