Hello!

Just a few questions about the targets of item recall, and what tags should exist for it.

As the ritual scroll states, the target for Item Recall is onto a spirit. Does this mean that the tag should be on the characters spirit, and it counts to the 20 ritual limit on that characters spirit?

Does it also count to the 20 ritual limit on the item?

When batching the ritual, if you want to preserve it does the preserve have to occur on the item or the spirit?

When DMing the ritual, are both the item and the spirit valid targets to DM the ritual?

Thank you in advance!

To answer your questions:

As the ritual scroll states, the target for Item Recall is onto a spirit. Does this mean that the tag should be on the characters spirit, and it counts to the 20 ritual limit on that characters spirit?

Item Recall should be recorded in two places: (a) the Magic Item batch on the item which is being cast, and (b) the character's Spirit tag (if any; it can be added to an existing item or put on a new tag if needed). In either case, the Item part should note the character to which it's recalled, while the Spirit tag should note the Item number.

Item Recall does indeed count against a character's Spirit Ritual limit. The same is true for Spirit Link and Spirit Lock. Note that Investiture explicitly notes that it does NOT count against this limit.

Does it also count to the 20 ritual limit on the item?

Yes indeed.

When batching the ritual, if you want to preserve it does the preserve have to occur on the item or the spirit?

The extender should be placed on the item batch.

When DMing the ritual, are both the item and the spirit valid targets to DM the ritual?

Yes, it can be destroyed from either "end" so to speak.
