I don't usually start this... but I want to get to it early while things are fresh.

Some of my favs:

Our Crew. Period. You guys make it all happen.
Martine the poodle
New players - wow. I wasn't remotely as good as you guys when I started
Conquering 1001 technical issues with an amazing team
Brand new food committee.. You guys were amazing
Why, yes, one of our favorite crew members IS from super far away in Canada
Dame's Dogs. Wow you guys sold it
I have never seen this many barbars playing together outside a barbar specific event.. SO cool
Year two.... Hellz yeah
Great plot input from non plot members - now that's teamwork
Saturday night RP.. It has literally been years since I had that much fun just shooting the breeze in character. Thanks for helping me remember why this is magical
As always, watching the world we used to just imagine live and breathe and be so much more than we dreamed because of all the players. It is such a privilege to create with such talented people.

MORE!! MUST HAVE MORE FAVORITES!! :p

NPCing against the wayfarers was actually a lot of fun as im relatively new as well and they were a bit more on my level.

Sitting in the woods unconcious for 15 minutes while the PCs decided whether to kill us or kill one of themselves and plant evidence on us.

Zigwan's Rat-O-Nine Tails.

HUSK BATTLE!

OK here I go with the favorites there is a long list so I apologize and I will not have them in any specific order.

DARK ELF SHENANIGANS.... always amazing Kate made an amazing partner to run around with.
The first time the town tried to reverse the magical field and it failed the awesomeness that is Xroads with there pyrotechnics and the flame was really cool.
Spending a total of 7 gold 5 silver and 2 copper on cure lights after buying them all out of the consortium as well as towns folk just to make sure Kates character would never stay down for to long. Then on sat using around 22 of them IN ONE BATTLE because the dark man and the husks gave us one hell of a good fight.
Then retreating from the battle when Kate went down I picked her up and placed her only a foot or two off the road, Covering her head with mine to hide the hair as I first aided her... The dark man and all the husks walked past us with out even seeing us talk about being completely scared they were going to see us and murder us.
Rongo killing a training golom because he thought it would get someone in trouble. Then other goloms came out searching for him.
Martine the poodle, so worried about germs. I could not keep a straight face...
Me, Savanah, Kate, and Worsor ( I am sorry I cant remember your oog name ) Having this ELABORATE plan on how to take down the humans that were being disrespectful to the tows people, then while escorting them back they jumped the gun and actually just took down Savanah so we cut them all down and carried them off into the woods while we stabilized them trying to figure out what to do with them. All because we were like wait... we don't need to plant the evidence now? It was amazing and it worked out.
The sun was barely out for the weekend as it was covered by clouds, so it made for a nice cool weekend.
Getting enslaved by the goblin "king" and smirking while he tried to torture the 5 of us that were enslaved. Then getting revenge on a poor goblin with Kate, Savanah and Warsor. Torturing it to death and offering the corpse up to the rat that came out.
Never sitting still for more then a few moments as we were kept busy and never wondering what to do next.
The trip's to go to bed was ALWAYS meet with at least 4 battles before we could make it to the cabin.
commando crawling on the ground face down just to make it to Kate to feed her a cure light :p
Being forced to bow to the noble by Kate after having walked away refusing to bow because he was not my noble.
All and all the whole weekend was full of win and amazingness. The whole weekend was a favorite.

Hoyce’s Crossroad Fav’s
(in no particular order)

-The coin vomiting broken Haberdash Golem. It WAS a training golem. Angus and Kyril got to train their taunts on it and then get rewarded for being loudmouth blowhards (as opposed to our usual, getting ignored for it!)

-The many and varied antics in the bar between Angus, Kyril and whomever else was sitting next to us.

-Not giving a Rat’s *** about the plot (yet still knowing what was going on, well played Crossroads plot team!)

-Telling the Consortium about the many and varied ways that they could go screw themselves, in spite of any number of friendly warnings about how we should, in fact, not be doing so.

-Feeling buff and tough considering I was a 9th level fighter and I’m a piss poor stick jock with pretty much NO magical protection at all.

-Managing to offend Lord Gavin every time Angus and I set eyes on him and still not giving a damn (side note: Thanks to Tim Curry (sp?) who doesn’t know me and Joe OOG and was still a great sport considering we mocked the hell out of him all weekend.)

-Realizing that we could say anything we wanted, as loud as we wanted because 95% of the game just started tuning us out after being in game for only 2 hours.

-Meeting Grimm. Kyril likes this dude.

-Fighting with my Clan on the Saturday night wave battle. We were woefully ineffective, but it was still fun as hell.

-Connected to the last one, seeing someone else play a Flamefist from the Ashbury chapter since I wrote the background for that Clan, so I got to feel like it finally grew beyond my character.

-Calling Tab’s Consortium Enforcer character “Magistrate MuttonChops” all weekend without having him come back into game to slaughter me.

-Apparently one of my best lines of the weekend was when discussing how Angus and I would like to torch the Consortium building and someone assured me they’d ward it. “Last I checked Wards kept out people not FIRE! I’m no Wizard but I think that’s how it works…”

-The Goblin Torture Mod. Unexpected, and ridiculous. Props to the NPC (whose name I never caught) who didn’t mind physical RP.

-Coming out of that one, Joe as Angus merely whipping the Goblins over and over with the Rat Tails as opposed to actually fighting any of them “How do ye like it ye bastards!!!!”

-Essentially threatening the lives of no less than seven PC’s who were all standing around Angus’ fallen body and no one giving me any kind of flack about it.

-Angus pulling me back for healing after I got dropped to a PC who didn’t move out of his way. “Coming through means move, not stand there ye dolt!”

-Just about every conversation with Joe M. playing my cousin Angus. Dude’s HILARIOUS!

-The local court member (Sara I believe her IG name was) who very polite put up with our utter nonsense every time we saw her.

-Amelia’s Orc, who was able to realize that only local dwarves suck, not those from Dwarranagor (Ashbury Chapter). Of course, that was before she REALLY got to know us, so who knows what she thinks now haha.

I’m sure there’s about 55 more that I just can’t think of right now. I had a fantastic time, and X-roads seems like a particularly fun game. I love low level NERO. If it weren’t so far away (and I didn’t have such a busy real life) I’d be making it a regular stop. As it is, I still may be able to return every now and again, and I’ll be looking forward to it…

-Hoyce (aka Kyril Flamebeard)

With all the amazing things I’ve heard people say about Crossroads, I was trying not to let myself get hyped up, lest I be disappointed. That was a stupid thing to do. This chapter is just as, if not more awesome than what I’d heard. It was totally worth the drive. I really hope I can come play again soon!

That being said, some favorites (in no particular order):

The NPCs! You are beautiful, resplendent creatures, and you busted your asses all weekend to give us a good time. Without you, it would be impossible to bring this world to life. Thanks for your time and your great energy.

Starting out with a bang - literally! With all the dwarves about, Kaegan wasn’t sure she was going to like Kupspar... then the celestial guildmaster blew himself up and instantly changed her mind.

Giant. Ball. I really don’t need to say any more, do I?

Marshmallow team building! I am proud to say I earned my “skewering marshmallows with tusks” badge. All of the team-building mods were fun and creative.

Sir Gavin, and conversations about why nobles felt the need to make their subjects kneel before them. All of the nobles were so much fun. “Respect.”
Saturday night spectacle and the ensuing battle with the husks. Wow. “You see what you see” has never been so glorious.

Tending to the plague victims. It was great to have that bit of down-to-earth role play with the peasants, even though Kaegan and the Dwarven Duo may not have been the best people for the job...

People joining in when Kaegan started drunkenly singing “The Wild Rover”! Saturday night Hallucinate + Intoxicate + Alcohol = drunken role play. Good times.

Facing off against the spell-casting goblin in a duel of rude gestures.

Refit - it’s the new healing! Being out of healing on Saturday night was a little terrifying, and it made it feel like we really were fighting for survival.

The Wayfarers Guild. Hanging out with guys was great fun. SHMACE TO THE FACE! And I’ve come to a conclusion: Justin Coggin’s characters are awesome, whether he’s PCing or NPCing. It’s just a constant.

Henry the Necromancer of Fail. Well, failing at raising an army of undead, but certainly not at kicking our asses with binding spells, a chaos blade, and a lot of running. One NPC managed to entertain a group of six PCs on a combat mod! He also gave us the best treasure ever - a tiny toy pony.

The fact that by Saturday morning, my knuckles were bleeding from using my shield. My solution was to pick up a random bit of fabric and add it to my costume. I felt like a proper orc.

Ka-chang teaching me how to fight sword-and-board. (or rather mace-and-board) From how sore I am this morning, it’s painfully obvious that my primary is a scholar.

All things Jovunn. It was great to have the little misfit barbar to relate to and protect. Kris is also a brilliant RPer, who doesn’t give herself enough credit.

Learning “parry” from the training construct. It was less of a lesson, and more of a beating. “I do not have a mother...”

Morning conversation with Dame Evelyn about the Dark Man, Void, and face painting.

Anuk the Killer Chipmunk! The character was so cute, and so deadly!

This weekend was great! I am very fortunate to be a part of the Crossroads family. I am honored I was asked to take on the role of Wayfarer's Guildmaster! It gave me a great opportunity to roll with some really awesome people all weekend. It was also a very fun challenge being a leader. I had a lot of fun, and I hope you guys did too!

Some highlights from my weekend:

RP with Throck about various things from figures of speech to matters of honor.

'Cheekers' --Darius may never forgive himself, but at least he can laugh at the situation. Hey, maybe there will be another round! Kelly, you're always so fun to rp with as Madame Nadia! I am very much looking forward to gooning for you later this season! :)

All things Amelia/Keagan. Amelia is consistently a favorite presence of mine at Alliance since I met her as her Stone Elf, Ren. Her costuming and roleplay add so much to our world! I especially enjoyed our post defeat drunkeness.

Getting to see Joe and Asia M. come down to play Flamefist Dwarves. Many folk who play Crossroads may not have met them when they played the most sarriest sarr duo to ever sarr. They are such great players. Thanks for coming guys!!

Hoyce and Kyril...getting to see this character brought back a lot of fond memories for me. This weekend was loaded with nostalgia.

Speaking of nostalgia....RONGO. Carlo is badass, and plays a great barbar. He's even keeping the Glory Road team alive. The first team I ever rolled with at NERO/Alliance.

Speaking with Malkry about our pasts.

Watching Belnar soar like an eagle as a distractionary target against the constructs. Dom, your character is great.

Josh coming to game for the first time ever and playing the always hilarious Dwarf known as Trevor. You salty bastard! ;p

Matt really clicking as his Hobling Willgrim. Hope I spelled that right. You're awesome man. I loved all your off the wall money making schemes, and indroctinating you into the treasurer role of the wayfarer's guild.

The spectacle of light dancers after the mayhem of the husk fight. Tab's new voicebox thing was fierce and very practical.

Lots of fun roleplay with Jacquie! Even while dining out of game she manages to help me come up with fun things to talk about. It was so nice to see you again! :)

Ogre rivalry between K'Shank and Warsor. You guys are awesome.

We had a lot of new faces come to join our Crew this weekend. You guys are amazing. I hope to get to know you all better!

Watching Brian play Martine of the Dame's Dogs. Holy crap man. You were so effing hilarious! "Did you bathe today?! I do not believe you." "You know where I slept last night?! HAY (hair toss) that's right, HAY!" Quotes do not do these epic shennanigans justice.

The Misfits team. Amanda, Grub am awesome. I so hope I get to meet you as Tetsu.

Ladies and Gents, I do believe we still got it. See you all next time!

Much love,

Justin Coggin

I can't thank everyone for making my first visit to Crossroads so much fun. Everything I'd been told turned out to be true in the best possible way; you guys really know how to live up to the hype.

So, favorites!

-Not going to lie, I'm just really into the camp site. Really expansive with numerous, relatively varied areas means lots of opportunities for IG "travel". Lots of bugs, but that's nature. Not to mention the neat kitchen/eating area; it's small, but really cozy and has a sort of inherent old(e) world(e) tavern(y) feel to it.

-Really amazing RP with Amelia as Kaegan and Kyle as Grim. It was a really interesting little dynamic that gave Jovunn a lot to think about. It's always a pleasure to RP with Kyle and I was super, super excited to finally get to do so with my favorite identical twin – you're both brilliant actors and I can't express enough how good at this stuff you two are. <3
-In that vein, the budding "bromance" between Kaegan and Jovunn!! It's so beautiful and brütal and wild. Sparring and talking was so much fun and it was really nice to finally meet someone IG who encouraged Jovunn to be herself to the fullest, including the parts that a lot of society/adventurers frown upon. And, like I said, it was amazing to finally get to RP with the talented Ms. von Lizak.
-Oh, and beating our shields to call out the husks. Even if we got yelled at. They were going to come out of the woods eventually anyway!

-Giant. Ball. I'd heard stories, but seeing it for myself was... something. I wasn't sure whether to laugh OOG or run away IG because OOG the eyes were so... derpy! but IG I was fully aware that it was a very disconcerting thing. Suffice to say, I had a really fun time dodging it and chasing it around and having it land directly on my head.

-Spectacle elements, in general. I am definitely a fan of the pyrotechnics, Tab's voicebox, the husk eyes, the dancing music box pieces/light thingies... There's a lot of really amazing innovation at Xroads and I can't compliment that creativity enough. It really makes it possible to forget you're playing a game and does wonders for the immersion factor. I was most fond of the husk eyes in the woods - talk about an "oh sh-!" moment.

-The "berry picking" mod with Flaming Balls + Kaegan and Kipcha (I don't think I spelled that right). It was so ridiculous and an IG crapshoot, but there was so much funny stuff happening the whole time: Mugs "marrying" a goblin and receiving a tiny viking helmet, the farmer's wife "riding" Ravvna, and, of course, WHISTLING. So. Much. Whistling. I never want to do it again, but damn was it fun.

-RPing with Ka-chang and getting a few lessons in the combative arts/pole-arm use. I hope your noggin is okay, JP!

-The intoxication/hallucination ale on Saturday night post-wave battle. Just getting to be silly like that is always fun.

Awesome time everyone, I barely skirted in under the cap and was psyched i brought a friend along too!

1. Have ta say it sduring set up i saw the grim memorial gardens sign and was like awww... then later saw it was actually a grave yard.. or if you ask grim " A stone garden"
2. "Showing someone grim's garden" becomming the running joke for it being time to kill something
3. Hoyce and Joe.. Your dwarves are epic as hell! talking to two icenian dwarves was like living history and being silly obnoxious bastards was awesome.
4. das uber wave battle. Being 4 seconds from rezzing. Hunting for jovunn spying on the green rock.. getting caught..
5. Platemail Gymnastics, may be fat but i can evidently move.
6. Kate's dark elf
7. being a mastersmith and it being handy.
8. Jovunn and Kaegan.
9. silliness and inside jokes everywhere. Im very lucky to have made so many awesome friends
10. Grim realizing that he made a bit of a difference and then his huge sadness reading some of the names .. layr flynn and montoya.. folks he actually knew and liked were dead. gave everything some gravity.
Sooo many more. so sore and tired still but adore you guys.. grims over the cap.. time to make a new character..

In no order but the first:

- Thank you to staff, crew, NPCs, and tavern folks! You ran a great game and served some amazing food. Thank you so much! :) A special thanks to the nighttime tavern folks who helped with the endless cutting of fruit and serving dinner.

- Dark Elf shenanigans! Running around with Mark as Saru was awesome. It was nice to have someone at my beckon call, but also get to be the "kind mistress," too. The discussion with Hourani (sp?) about the matriarchy and views about males on Sunday morning was nice.

- The epic plan of epicness on how to deal with those belligerent, racist humans, and then having everything made one step easier by their own actions. Watching Dom's face OOG as we pondered what to do with them after we took them down was pretty awesome.

- "I am Ehetere Nasreen; I make men uncomfortable."

- The Dark Elf, Black Widow Kin, and High Ogre unholy alliance. It shouldn't have worked, but it worked wonderfully. Torturing goblins has never been quite so fun. Jill's goblin's last stand - grabbing her broken sword with her teeth? Priceless.

- Being one body, one sword chick in that Saturday fight. Having 25 Cure light elixirs dumped down my throat and continuing to fight like a rabid badger. Saru's commando crawl kung fu was amazing, and I'm amazed we survived it all! Also, having the Dark Elfiest moment ever, hiding in a *clearing* one foot from where all the bad guys walked...

- Dragomiri's many offers of goods. Oh, how I love the Crossroads PCs with whom we played!

- Seeing Rongo again after what, nine years? Egads. Kyril, too!

- Watching Grim have a scared, but honored, reaction to my request for a refit, and hearing, "May I touch you, ma'am?" each time. Being called the "smiley dark elf" by J. Sailer's High Ogre.

- Seeing just how often everyone ignored what the Dwarves were yelling. Taking note of just how many death threats went unanswered by the nobility. "Aye, lad... that's where it starts!"

- All the PC adventurers were non-human this weekend. I don't think I'd ever seen that happen before! My twelfth season, and I'm seeing new things still!

- MARTINE. I had to bite my cheeks SO HARD to stop from laughing. Brian, you slay me. It was the head twitch/hair toss before starting a sentence that killed me every time. "I ::shake:: grant you the power ::dramatic pause:: of a magic ::twitch:: armor ::nose in the air::" I ended up having to pinch my leg to keep from laughing.

- The whole Underdark Chicken discussion. Now I have to make an Underdark chicken dish, you realize. It shall be black with spices, and oh so tasty...

- The epic exposition after Darkman beat us - both the pyro/light dancers and the conversation deep in the woods.

- All the interactions between Ehetere and Guildmaster Angus. "Mistress! Get control of your man! I mean... not that I'm telling you what to do... but you need to ... uh... fix this! Or something."

- Ziggy's gambling man. I almost felt bad with how much money we took from you, compared to how much we put in, but it was fun nonetheless.

- And last, but not least, having just about every single person stumble over Ehetere's name. It felt appropriate just how hard it was for folks to pronounce/remember it, made me feel appropriately foreign in these crazy human lands.

This even actually made me really anxious to PC

Now that I think on it, the gal who runs the Consortium (or at least was this weekend...the elf with the jewel in her head...I'm sorry I don't recall then name of the player or character) was a real trooper too. We outright told her to go screw herself and practically made it a point to constantly insult her. Hopefully she knows (as Tim/Lord Gavin do) that it was all IG!

Thanks again for a great event to all the staff and NPCs!!

-Hoyce

thank you to all the crew, staff and others this weekend...you gals and guys were everywhere..

the only downtime I had was when I wanted downtime...which was when I was sleeping.. :noway: ..there was something to do all the time....

lots and lots of Guild talk...that was fun...

talking with the Gypsies...mod with the Misfits...hanging with Kate and Mark...fun times all around...

Gambling in the tavern....ohhh how I love Liar's Dice....soooo much coin from that...I felt a little bad for the other PC that lost their money to me...but only a little and not for very long.... :funny: ...much love to those who played...

Sat nite fight with the Husk....great fight...the dancing lights and pyro at the end was great!!!

looking forwards to the next event....

Wheeerree to begin.....

-The New Consortium Building of WIN!! Yes. It is very satisfying to slam that door shut. Speaking of which...

-Opening the door after a business meeting and being IG and OOG surprised to find the large group of people who were just there: Gone. (Oh yes Hoyce, I am well aware the resulting POed dwarves were IG :D I thought the whole circumstance was hysterical :funny: ) Which continues into...

-Having to call down to basecamp, "So...you know that contract we were prepping? Ah, ...they were just kidnapped. All of them. Might want to pull the crew back in."

-Realizing that if I play any other NPC at Xroads, I should probably 1) not wear white 2) wear a mask/makeup and possibly 3) have an accent.

-My vast amusement that the Dwarves were placed in the Consortium Circle by the guildmistress in order to save them

-Repeat after me: Stay the #$!@ away from the bleachers

-The IG portion of: "We're going to go play 'streep cheeckers'. It's when you strip the paint off the pieces, right?" "...No my dear."

-The faces on those within hearing distance when Madam Nadia propositioned Hiranya. Priceless.

-Late night good company and talkins :)

-My Consortium elf's full surprise at being propositioned by an orc (Totally didn't see that coming Amelia :p )

-Listening to the conversation between Darius and Madam Nadia after realizing just what he had turned down. haaahaahaha!

-The full wave waylay of absolute win. It was AHmazing! And funny as hell, "Why you all get quiet?-CRAP!"

-Seeing everybody again at game!

I know I have the many others, but that's what pops into my head at the moment. :) Great fun it was indeed.

~Elissa

Thank you to the amazing people of crossroads: plot, npc and pc. You guys definitely follow rule number three! :)

Here are some of my favorite moments from my first xroads event:

Minty cleavage!
Alchemy roleplay
Streep cheekers.
To quote several other people: Giant. Ball.
Gypsy and barbar plot (npc Kathia). It's crazy how much you were reading my mind.
Crying in game for the first time ('cause Bunny doesn't cry)
Having Everything in my pouch. Felt like MacGuyver.
"Brian, do you currently have a head?" *and ensuing confusion.
Husk battle was epic and scary as heck. Great time! It was fun to be on the PC side of it after NPCing in NH last year.
Underdark chicken! Is underdark tofu malicious, too?
Dedication of the crew to our suspension of disbelief.

*my* favorites:..

- just "Xroads".. in general.. you all Rock.. its soooo easy to be a newbie here.. because *everyone* cares if you're having a good time or not..
- Ball battles and watching at least one person get repeatedly *munched* every. single. time.. (more "win" when its someone you know) :mer:
- smiling dark elves :ninja:
- the realization, as an NPC, (after rp'ing some gold from an epicly altruistic PC), that my little townie now has to *do* something with his life to pay him back... :noway:
- being a bad guy, & knowing that "you can win too"
- saturday nights
- mystic lights dancing into the forrest
- watching the best laid plans go to hell, then calling someone "mistress" while lawyering our way out of jail time..
- being one of a column of waylayed goblins (epic win)
- Affirming that actions have concequences, and staff are *never* to busy to right a wrong.. (thanks Rongo) :D
- Tab's inspired brainstorms.. (hello impromptu casino..)
- surprising people :hahaha:

- being one of *many* "favorite cast members"..

see you soon! :)
