Min/Max length of long bow

I'm going to make a long bow and I'm not sure of the actual min/max length of a long bow. I found this post which provides the length of a bow of Long Bow - 33 in / 83.8 cm - 58 in / 147.3 cm - 3 but is the length of the bow the actual length of a straight pvc pipe or does the length ignore the curve and goes the shortest route from end to end?

So if I have a 33 inch pvc pipe and bend it, the actual length of the bow from point to point might be 27 inches due to the bend.
