Greimalk

Newbie
The evening was dark as the shadow approached the closed gates of Calenhelm, moving slowly and painfully as his tired bones ached. It had been a long hard fruitless journey home; the fools had not listened to a word he had said. They had even brought out their trained dogs to try and sift his mind for all the information about the "imagined threat of Vampires" and the military weaknesses of the "human seat of corruption Calenhelm". He had been prepared though for them, he had ordered and trained his mind; locked the thoughts that needed to be hidden and warped the others to hide his dealings; they knew nothing of his plotting and scheming.

He moved slowly into the torch light of the gate and waited for the night guard to inspect him and give him leave to enter the city. As he stood waiting as his weapons and gear were inspected, Tal notices that all the guards are nervous and on edge, but that was to be expected if half the rumors he had heard on the road were true. Parsons Breach over run (his doing?) and the King and Mage missing or dead (let their bones bleach in the snow); he had left the town just at the approbriate time it seemed. Looking at the nearest guard, Tal croaks out of cracked lips "The remnants of Parsons Breachs defender's, where can they be found?" The guard finishing his inspection and waving him into the sleeping city points in the general direction of the castle as he walks back to the glowing brazier in the guard house, no word or welcome greeting to Calenhelm.

Entering the dark city, Tal remembers himself as he left it two months eariler; a proud templar of a proud race setting out to bring his people warning of impending threat and doom. But no more, they had stripped him of his remaining titles, his standing in the Templars of the Stone and accused him of inciting fear among his people, leaving him nothing but his skills as a fighter. He had been interrogated, probed and tortured for what he knew or what they believed he might know, but he had fooled them all, his mind had remained closed in the deepest corners where his secrets were hidden. He had plotted long and hard, he would see them all pay for the destruction of his family and he would show them real fear soon enough. No matter who he hurt, close friend or innocent, he would have his revenge on the First Family and the rest of the cowering Biata's of his homeland.

As he walks into the depths of the city a sound issues from his cracked lips which chills the very air; the sound of a corpse laughing from the grave. He continues to walk into the city seeking his "close friends" and the warmth of their beating hearts ...........
