Securing a Cape that is Thicker than normal?

I have a Mini Bear skin cape and need an idea of how to secure it. It is to thick of material to use safety pins and to heavy for command Velcro strips. I am thinking of using short braided twine and tying it or putting grommets it it any other cool clasp or closure ideas. It looks kind of like this.

Try a kilt pin. You should be able to find them at a fabric or sewing store. They are just very large safety pins and look period.

just ordered one that is like the size of the persons hand in the picture that should work. thanks for the idea.
