So, We bought a Permanent Site

Lurin

Duke
We here at Alliance Raleigh have a very exciting announcement to make, now that the inspections are done and the paperwork is in order all we need to do is wait for the closing day in Early February, we can proudly announce the Purchase of a Permanent site!

In addition to housing our new personal home here are some exciting tidbits we can share now about the features of the new site.

Location - It is located at 1317 Joyce WoodWorks Rd, Sandy Ridge, NC 27046
Basic Information

1.) We are close to the Piedmont Triad international airport and a couple of smaller ones in and around the Winston-Salem area.
2.) The new site is a total of 54 acres and is on a private road.

LARP based features.

3.) The site includes a powered and plumbed 1200 sq foot building we'll be using as our Tavern
4.) The site includes a powered and plumbed hunters cabin with a kitchen area and full bath (including Shower) This will largely be used as a quiet rest space/bathroom.
5.) A roughly 900 sq foot basement with it’s own door access that will serve as monster camp/npc sleeping
6.) Separate parking area
7.) A third storage style powered building that will likely host circles of power allowing those that tend them to store materials etc. between games.

Planned Upgrades
Before we run our first game we’ll be adding a total of 5 192 SQ foot canvas tents (to sleep 6 comfortably). They have footprints (floors) and full bug net screening to allow for adjustment to increase/decrease airflow as needed for comfort. (please note we'll be adding platforms in the future but will not initially have the wood platform in the below picture.)

In addition we’ll be finishing the basement to add an additional non-porta potty based Bathroom hopefully before our first game but almost definitely by the end of our 2022 season.

We’ll also have a number of cots on hand for our first event and will be adding to that number as time goes on. Unfortunately we do not expect to be able to offer a cot to all attendees for our first game so please plan accordingly!

We are very excited to be able to provide, and build up a site specific to the needs of our community and look forward to sharing more details as work continues!

As always, our goal is to make our game at Alliance Raleigh as safe and accessible for as many people as possible. We are open to feedback and discussions regarding this, and all, of our policies. Please feel free to discuss the policy here on the forums, in our Discord server, or our Facebook.

Unforseen issue I wanted to point out before you're suprised by it: septic system issues. A typical home septic system is designed to handle the daily output of 5 or 6 adults. A alliance event wich hosts 50 plus people Friday night through sunday afternoon can seriously overload such a system. Only pointing this out because it became an issue for us at a permanent larp site a while back. Make sure you do your homework on needed system size and don't be shy about renting a Porta john.

We appreciate the heads up, we happy have a good amount of experience from running a similar (but not as nice) site in Minnesota and the septic is on our list of things to keep touch with, there will be a porta-john (or two-three) based on attendance to handle the primary load. Plumbed bathrooms will have limited availability for those who need them (for any number of reasons) to ensure we don't over tax the system. Although we are looking at someday putting in a second larp dedicated system in the future.
