Welcome to New Acarthia!
My name is Baron Darius Rivervale, of the Barony of Rivervale. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome and inform all those citizens of Acarthia who will be traveling to the estate of New Acarthia for the gathering of the noble courts in June, 414.
It is the will of Her Grace Duchess Ilianna Tiberion that when the noble courts take the field, one of her vassals shall stand as her War Chief, leading the people of the kingdom in battle. This role is intended to rotate amongst the baronies in an order that reflects when each barony was created within the kingdom, beginning with Rivervale and followed each month by Tiatar, Warchester, and Bayenna, respectively. Should a Baron or Baroness be unavailable, his or her knights may then step in. Based on this rotation, I shall be serving as War Chief for this month's gathering.
Although I will not go into depth here regarding the tactics that we have found to be effective in New Acarthia, the gathered forces have been successful thus far using squads that complement the skills and styles of the varied defenders of the kingdom. It is my desire to see each defender of Acarthia placed appropriately on the battlefield according to both skill and preference. I welcome suggestions from those who have the wisdom to speak on this matter. If I am unavailable, please bring any such discussion to Dame Katherine Albright of Rivervale.
As the topic of dispersal of resources found upon the battlefield has been oft-discussed these past months, it seems valuable to discuss that it is common practice to loot one's own kills on the battlefield, or to designate an individual to do so on your behalf. However, any who helped to defeat a threat to the common people or the kingdom are entitled to a share of what gain there is to be had. As this can be difficult to arrange individually, I encourage travelers to New Acarthia to find those who will assist with the gathering and dispersal of one's own rightly-gained resources. Anyone with specific questions on this may speak to my Court Treasurer, Banks.
Finally, Her Grace has decreed that the lesser humanoid races (namely, goblins, orcs, ogres, hobgoblins, trolls, and kobolds) are not to be given succor; they are to be killed on sight unless they are being escorted to the borders of the kingdom. Any lesser humanoids who take up arms or magic while in the duchy must be slain. However, Her Grace, in her benevolent wisdom, has updated her decree to include that any noble may intercede upon the eradication of lesser humanoids for the purposes of gathering information, that we may learn more of our enemies and bring an end to this ongoing struggle.
