    [.11] Alternative Life Idea

Exactly this. Permadeath is a consequence to the player. Resurrections are, beyond the threat of losing the character, completely unremarkable as a threat for the character. Even if they do fail to resurrect, they're going to be shrugged off as having fallen victim to an unfortunate game...

    [.11] Alternative Life Idea

The worry isn't plot throwing death effects. It's how easily simple misjudgements on scaling can lead to a lot of need for Life spells due to bleedouts. One healer caught with a 5 minute bindomancy at the wrong time could be a half dozen life spells needed instead of simple cures to prevent the...

    [.11] Oregon | November 2-3 | Thoughts and musings

Earth casters being replaceable with expensive production is good. Every other class in the game is already replaceable, and even the big Celestial things that aren't scrollable have lower level alternatives that are. Life is the only outlier that is a binary pass/fail and can be needed as...

    [.11] Oregon | November 2-3 | Thoughts and musings

Seems good to me. Playing the game and having permission to take risks without having to worry if I've ingratiated myself sufficiently for the high level players to remember I'm on the field sounds great, in fact. So does not being tempted to pay-no-play other chapters to try and get more...

    [.11] Oregon | November 2-3 | Thoughts and musings

I just want to take a moment to call this out as uncomfortable from a customer service perspective, and possibly part of why the playerbase in general seems to be aging in many places as newbies don't stick.

    Build Cap

Definitely sounds like a local culture thing. It's generally been pretty easy in most of the midwest chapters I've played to find someone who's invested in either circle and doesn't mind doing a quick ID. As far as expectations of healers, well... I could go on about that one at length and...

    [.11] Armor Enchanments

True, but it indicates that the concept isn't impossible game-world wise.

Isn't Quiver Of Holding already one of the new rits?

    plastic potion bottles

IIRC the minimum requirement is .25 oz, or roughly 7.4 mL. The 13x100 mm test tubes a lot of folks favor are 8 mL.

    [.11] Armor Enchanments

I think at the end of the day, the better question to ask is if the magic item is the armor tag, which can be used with any armor rep that is of sufficient rating, or the specific physrep at the time of casting, all parts included.

    [.11] Armor Enchanments

I agree, in general, and think most of the discussion is to clarify stuff like 'if I take off my helm or gloves, does the rit still work'.

    [.11] Armor Enchanments

That last one I'd assume is the same answer as rendered armor tags. Ritual is tied to the rep, if you're not wearing the whole rep, then you're not getting the armor value (although the rep is indestructible despite not being all one piece). That could all use some official clarification now...

[.11] Player Blankets instead of Character Blankets

I am super happy to hear it, and vastly appreciative of how much work and good will has gone into improving our game.

[.11] Player Blankets instead of Character Blankets

I'd hope it wouldn't be, but I'd want that site up, tested, and good to go before we made it a rule. We run on what seem to be shoestring budgets and mostly volunteer labor, so keeping churn down is probably for the best. :D

[.11] Player Blankets instead of Character Blankets

I like it, but given that I'm over a month out on getting an email reply from a chapter regarding a character update, I fear the logistical complexity it would add would lead to problems.

I'll bring up a bottle of sugar free maple syrup, anyone else who'd prefer it is welcome to it.

    plastic potion bottles

A lot of the folks locally use plastic test tubes for their potion reps, which you can get from Amazon for ~$15 per 100.

[.11] High Level Build Rate Change and Or Cap

Yeah, but I expect that the db will also be taking that into account, and has pretty much always been the case when it comes to fighting PCs. I in no way expect the owners to knowingly make the game significantly more dangerous for extremely high level characters relative to everyone else.

[.11] High Level Build Rate Change and Or Cap

I in no way want to demonize older players. The issue is that enormously high level older charaters make an outsize impression on scaling and plot. That means they have to be worked around, and in a way limits what plot can bring to the table as a challenge for the game as a whole, because...
