    Fragments of the nightmare

Betrayal. Blood. Pain. Anger. Hunger. The beast, unleashed from a prison that held it for far too long, rends the flesh of friend and foe alike. Bathed in the terror and desperation of the fallen, it feasts on blood and flesh, gristle and bone. Love. Friendship. Honor. Duty. These...

    Lightweight Clay

Crayola's Model Magic is really good for making horns that will last a few events; just remember to seal them after painting. Also, I do not recommend using spirit gum to attach them; it tends to degrade the foam much more quickly than liquid latex or other adhesives. They're incredibly...

Evaluatable Items and tags representing their worth

seconded. I've had an evaluate list forever. Maybe you're just not asking at the right place or time?

Evaluatable Items and tags representing their worth

Treasure policy is treasure policy (which, make no mistake, I am well versed in). Whether it comes from the production pool or the ritual allotment is irrelevant; the idea that if something came out of treasure policy it should have value all over the Alliance is unsupported by existing policy...

Evaluatable Items and tags representing their worth

...and creates extra work for logistics. ...and creates extra waste in the form of more tags. ...and wastes IG time on trips to logistics. ...and disrupts the IG atmosphere by adding an OOG travel step to the evaluation process. ...and lets chapters continue to skirt on something they should...

Players having more input upon decisions made by owners

Re: Blue colored arrow packets Ok, rereading that after posting I realize how snooty it sounds. I still stand by it, but let it be known that I do recognize that I am both a gamer snob and a general ***.

Players having more input upon decisions made by owners

Re: Blue colored arrow packets I agree with the expressed desire for transparency, but disagree wholeheartedly with the idea of a popular rules vote. Plainly put, I do not believe the average player has the depth of game design knowledge and/or ability to look beyond their own situation to do...

    October Event Info

It's incredibly easy in phpbb. In fact, setting up a link to look like a forum is natively supported. I think the issue lies in wanting to present a homogeneous front for the Alliance rather than a collection of links to pages with no consistent style or theme. Or something.

A PC's responsibility to their Chapter

A friend posted this link on his journal today. I'll share, because it seems appropriate for this thread: How to be a good player

    I'm new and confused.

I'm not sure what tavern you sit in, but in the one I hang out in a shortage of quality RP is extremely rare. Maybe you're just not looking in the right places?

    Fighter Practice

I'll check my spares and see if they're up to code. If not I'll make sure they're fixed. In either case I should have a couple spares.

    Fighter Practice

I am available either day, and can bring loaner weapons if needed. Also, I will have my rulebook and be available in case anyone has questions or wants to discuss any rules issues. BBQ, etc works good for me, I only ask that the location be as central as reasonably possible.

Had a blast at the event!

This was a good event for me. Greg, Mike, Jason, Lee: That scene was awesome. More please. The mod late saturday night was amazingly fun and really well run. Plot folks: Thank you for all your effort in making the game feel immersive and three-dimensional. I'm looking forward to the next game...

Racial roleplay requirements vs. roleplay "expectations"

I can't help but think that you're overpersonalizing this a bit. No one is suggesting anyone play a "happy little drone", but if the rulebook says that all ducks quack, then when I see a go to a game and see a duck it had better not bark, or I'm going to assume someone's breaking the rules at...

    Gypsy accents

Here on Earth, perhaps, but do they all exist on Fortannis? I think the root of the problem is that Earth cultures are being conflated with Fortannis races, which is not the best of comparisons.

Thank you, Mike. I appreciate the perspective.

    Gypsy accents

Is there? You seemed to indicate above that pretty much nothing is sacrosanct when there's a plot reason for changing it. In any case, I provided some pretty specific examples of "things that are ok" vs "things that are not ok" above, and I can't, for the life of me, tell the difference.

    Gypsy accents

Mark, in answer to your question: Your assumption that the spirit of the rules is always readily apparent and just waiting to be adhered to is, in my opinion, wildly optimistic. In reality this is a set of rules that is ~20 years old, has been rewritten multiple times, interpreted every which...

    Gypsy accents

Ok, so we've established that chapters should be able to do whatever they want with the rules and, for the most part, are allowed to do so as long as they don't mess with things that affect transferability directly (giving out extra build, free race changes, etc). I tend to agree with Mike that...

    Gypsy accents

Ok, we're more or less on the same page here, then, that plot *should* be able to more or less do what they want. Do you feel, in the current state of rules and policy, that it is *permissable* for chapters to do these things?
