  1. Samyania

    Mental Abilities and Wylderkin

It belongs with the race above it, which is Stone Elf.
  2. Samyania

    Mental Abilities and Wylderkin

Mental abilities are not available to wylderkin. That's a layout error in the rulebook.

    Bones needs advice...

I did not expect to still count you among the living, at this point. You should not expect significant martial opposition in Acarthia, though you should learn either manners or silence. This is advice, not a threat. Squire Vellis Valeriana Tsalarioth

    Maelstrom October 6th - 8th Pre-Registration

Squire Vellis Valeriana Tsalarioth of House Phoenix with House Phoenix
  5. Samyania

    Seeking lore

Your question is excessively vague. What qualities of mist-walking and differences between the lands are you investigating? You may find the only way to answer such broad parameters is to walk the mists yourself. Squire Vellis Valeriana Tsalarioth

    Racial Language options

Oh, no, I'm already great at not speaking German. :D That's why it's less preparation.

    Racial Language options

I've never seen any large clans last a long time, unfortunately. They're lucky to even end up with one long family member straggling along... I have kind of wanted to do the opposite of this, and bring an insular group of some non-human race to like Drachenfest or Mythodea, and really dig into...

    Racial Language options

Someone in NERO has put a whole lot of thought into a stone elf language, and I am insanely jealous that they even have enough stone elves to have a culture. I've slowly been looking at bits of it, and would look harder if I had anyone to talk to in it.

    Utah!!!!

I'm sure my parents and everyone else I left behind will be thrilled. I wish their opener wasn't over a Maelstrom, but there's always the future.
  10. Samyania

    Racial features: Ogres

Also we already have a green, tusked race, and Teir'dal and Dunmer both come in purple sometimes. You can do a lot with a lovely violet. If anything, I think grey makes sense for ogres, but I was under the impression that's the direction they're going with Oathsworn, so not that.
  11. Samyania

    Racial features: Ogres

Well that there's a stone elf with a tan.
  12. Samyania

    Racial features: Ogres

    That's my feeling.
  13. Samyania

    Racial features: Ogres

I mean, high fantasy in general has an unfortunate history of being pretty saturated in racist undertones, so that's super possible, but I'd like to hope people are better than that, or at least that they'd be discouraged from remaining in the community? Unfortunately it's difficult to ban...
  14. Samyania

    Racial features: Ogres

I think you're creating a false equivalency with an unrealistic scenario that has nothing to do with present systemic and cultural oppression. Sure, as long as it's there as a character or national flaw. Orcs are not a systemically oppressed people, as they do not exist, and real orcs will not...
  15. Samyania

    Racial features: Ogres

These would be slippery-slope arguments that I prefer to avoid. There are no real svartaelfir who are going to be offended by an inaccurate portrayal, and anyone who digs into the Prose Edda to find specific physical descriptions to be offended by has my dumbfounded respect, honestly. And yes...
  16. Samyania

    Racial features: Ogres

To be fair, I also feel like my own opinions don't count for much in this, which is why I have such a wishy-washy argument. The only reason I'm a stone elf earth scholar and not a dark elf celestialist is that Vellis fit Calliphestus better than Elem'miire does. I don't ascribe to...
  17. Samyania

    Racial features: Ogres

Sure. We're a white bunch of people (you, me and Kyle, and of course I only get whiter [stone elf joke]), and this is a super white hobby, so other perspectives can be hard to find, something I think is not unrelated to discussions like the whole drow one (and misguided "historical accuracy"...
  18. Samyania

    Racial features: Ogres

While I agree that they're different things (if not necessarily with your timeline), the fact is that some people are still hurt by it, and I can't see any harm in changing to avoid that hurt. Not all dark elves across all stories have coal-black skin, and not all ogres across all stories have...
  19. Samyania

    Racial features: Ogres

My first dark elves were the Teir'dal, so blue or purple dark elves would be pretty familiar, and half the time the drow of the Forgotten Realms get painted purple in covers anyway. Grey for ogres would, I think, also be appropriate with other material, but I think might cause confusion with...
