I wear tabi or regular boots for my wolf just depending upon weather. Toe shoes are also an option, but you would probably want to cover up some of the reflective or colored areas.

Oregon MC has been using the same foam shields for 5+ years now. Only 1 has broken down past repair level. The wall board insulation foam that Holly/Slice states works really well and is very inexpensive.

IDK, most likely it comes down to damage vs. weapon length. Having a long sword speed with 2 hand damage can be pretty swaying. I can move a min length long sword pretty fast, toss a long handle and now I get to swing for the same damage as someone with a much larger weapon.

Depends a lot upon the local chapter, the module/battle plan, etc. Typically, Oregon/Seattle chapters see around 2.5 players vs 1 NPC with a total around 60-80 total bodies. Some battles will see players 'double hook' (join the NPC ranks for the fight) and swing those number to 1:1 or...
