Just to clarify a couple points: Evade and Parry are not really equivalent. Evade can only be used on standard weapon blows, whereas Parry can also be used against blade skills like Eviscerate, Assassinate, Disarm, etc. Evade can evade Massive swings, though, and Parry can't. I'm not sure...

I went ahead and answered it IG, but you don't need to have anyone teach you how to cast spells from items as long as you know how to do it OOG. Just say "Activate" and then the incant for the spell.

Like you gotta know da incant but anybody can cast anyting from magic items. So wit dis one you'd just activate it like, "Activate, I call upon da Earth to grant you Sanctuary." If you can cast it from memory you can do it real quick, where you just activate it and say da spell name. GRONK
