A caution to travelers

For those traveling in and around the region of Rivenside, please be advised that a number of salamanders have been accosting travelers in the region, these beasts are fierce, and no trival matter to fight. Travelers without significant combat ready escorts are advised to avoid confrontation with these beasts if at all possible, and report any sightings to the nearest guard.

Do these salamanders posess offensive capabilities besides tooth and claw? My teacher used to say, "know thy enemy, girl, and you might survive another day."

I don't believe there is currently any bounty on these creatures as I am sure a hunting group will be dispatched within a month or two to hunt them down. However salamander talons are generally easy to sell and a good clean kill will often yield a couple of harvestable talons if you are careful. As to their abilities they are known to spit flame from time to time, both at travelers and at each other as a method of healing. Mated pairs can be especially dangerous should the female be slain first.

I'd be happy to purchase any and all talons collected from these beasts myself the usual price is 4 copper per talon which I'm sure people will find more then fair, I'll stop by the Rivenside post after lunch on this next marketday, I'm on my way back from a sales trip anyway.

fire spitting salamanders most unusual.. i've not encountered one before in my travels, sounds like they could be quite a handful..

Although sadly I will not be able to return physically I would offer the suggestion that anyone who can cast or use Ice magic might want to try it on these Firey salamanders. If something is healed by Ice it is at least worth a try to see if they are especially harmed by Ice, whether delivered magically, or by aruas cast onto weapons, or by enchanted weapons. Either way, try incing the darn things. ;)

Oh, and don't forget your spell shields and/or elemental shields! I know the second may be harder to memorize or come by in potion or scroll form. But they can save your life.

Those interested in obtaining the bounty set forth by Manek Koboldbane should meet up at the Rivenside Inn 4 days from now. Once enough adventurers have assembled, we will head out first thing to clear the roads and to obtain some talons.
