A few questions from a new player

Poobah

Novice
I got back from the event today and I must say that it was a blast. With having gone to an event, next time I come, I will probably be a wee bit more powerful, or so I hope. This brings up a few questions.

1: How many experience points are given per event, or at least this weekend? I do know that XP is used to buy BP and that after gaining levels the XP to buy a BP goes up.

2: How are goblin points used to buy BP or XP?

thanks!

The number of experience points you get varies based on the amount of build you have - basically for each day of an event you get a number of experience points equal to your current build total. At the beginning, an event might get you as much as 10 build, but later on it might be more like one build every event or two. Here's a calculator if you want to look at it in more detail.

You can use 30 goblins each month to buy what's called an experience blanket. It gives you one half of an event's worth of experience. You can also use goblins to blanket for events you miss - let's say you can't make it to April, you can pay 60 goblins and you'll receive experience as though you'd attended the event. You can earn goblins in a bunch of different ways but basically you'll get them any time you do something to help out the chapter. It can include extra cleaning at the end of an event (beyond the usual amount of cleaning expected), donations to the chapter (money, props, makeup, costuming, weapons, etc), or NPCing an event. I don't remember how many goblins you get for NPCing an event off the top of my head but I'm sure Rob D can pop in and remind me.

250 Gobbies, and 1 MI pick

Picks can be traded in with gobbies to get small magic items (need 2-3 picks usually and 500+gobbies for most things.

As for xp, Kyle's Explanation is correct. Play around with the calculator as its a great tool to get an estimate of build with.

2 day--Look at it by logistics periods. You went to logistics on Friday Night and Sat Night.

Im going to math out what I have here, so that if I do something wrong, someone can point it out to me.

Thanks to the donation I have 33 BP as of right now. I also have 100 gobbies thanks to a garb donation for the monsters.

For the 2 day event I have 66 xp.

My current level has a cost of 7xp per build point. I spend 14 xp to give me 2 bp and bump me to the next level. it now costs 12 xp per bp. I have 52 xp left.

Using the experience at my new level I spend 48xp to buy 4 more bp, putting me at 4xp.

My current build total is 39 build after the event.

Can I spend gobbies this month even with the donation or did that count as a goblin blanket?

either way, I spend goblins when I am able. -30 goblin points and it adds 39 xp to my toal of 4 giving me 43 xp and 70 gobbies.

I once again spend xp to get BP. I spend 36 xp and add another 3 bp and bringing me to 42 bp and 7 xp

Now comes the Easter event. I cannot make it, hard holiday to get away from the family...

I spend 60 goblin points and thus get xp as though I attended. I receive 84 xp to add to my total bringing me to 91 xp and 10 gobbies.

I spend 36 xp to bring me to 45 bp and put me at another level. My xp total is 55.

I spend 54 xp to gain 3 bp and leaving me with this: 48 BP, 1 XP, 10 Gobbies.

Is this right or did I mess up somewhere along the way?

It's way simpler than you're making it out to be thanks to the Build Calculator. You only need to look at a few numbers: Your current Xp, then what you're blanketing or 1day, 2day event. So start fresh with a new character.

15 Build.
33 Build starting character due to donation. (100 gobbies remaining)
Feb monthly back blanketing (-30)
March Monthly blanket (-30)
March 2day event
April monthly (-30)
Current Build: 48

So you did it right, but it doesn't need to be done by hand. :)
