A Note on Latex Weapons

With the new ruling allowing Latex weapons at Alliance Events, I'd like to clarify SoMN's stance on Latex weapons.

SoMN does officially allow Latex weapons, but cautions strongly against assuming any rep will pass until it has been safety checked.

As a newer, and potentially less safe weapon rep, we intend to be extremely strict to ensure all weapons meet rigid safety guidelines. Until your weapon has been approved please ensure to have a back up on hand. We always reserve the right to remove the weapon from play should it be wielded unsafely or in such a manner as it cause discomfort to other players beyond what a PVC rep might cause.

in short Latex weapon use should be considered a privilege, not a right!

Does anyone have any latex weapons and is going to the fight practice tomorrow. It would be nice to compare their use with the regular boffers.

I don't expect any latex weapons to be at the next fight pratice unless someone has some personal ones they wish to bring.

In addition, any latex weapons used during weekend events will need to be safety checked Friday night, as well as Saturday afternoon during logistics, by an approved weapon marshal. They must also be inspected after every fight by the player.

(reasons being that foam breakdown in latex weapons can occur very rapidly and without telltale signs, unlike the more gradual breakdown of standard pipe foam)

Indeed, I very much enjoy making boffer weapons. Contact me sometime soon Andrew so we can talk about your design. :)

so where would latex cores be available?

please excuse the stupid question if it is one
