Acarthian Forces Driven Back after Western Push

Newbie
The forces of Acarthia suffered a terrible defeat yesterday, as undead forces lead by Dreadrot’s spectral fiends flanked the main force in a crushing maneuver that cost the Acarthian forces hundreds of lives, and bolstered the forces of the undead.

The Acarthian forces had pursued the undead since the victory on the Corsith, picking off slower moving stragglers as they were left behind by the walking dead. Since the dead do not sleep, they were able to continue moving through the night. For three days the pursuit continued, fueled by rising Acarthian morale.

This was not to last however.. When word was received at the front of the disbanding of the Order of Lucius, and the chaos in the capitol, many of the commanding lords began to waver, wishing to return to their holdings to see to their security.

With the news, the army ground to a halt, as commanders jockeyed for leave to return hom from the Baron-General. Seeing no choice but to continue the onslaught against the undead, lest they strategically regroup, he refused these requests. Still, close to midday on Wednesday night, forces of two lords were ordered to return home. Forces commanded by Lord Anthony Hargrove and Lord Ivan Cosgrave informed the Baron General they had received orders to return southward at once. What was said in the command tent is not known, but it was very clear the Baron General was not happy, having thrown the both of them out.

Before sunset their forces departed, and with the coming darkness, the spectral undead found the weakened point they were looking for. Without the extra reserves to put on patrol that night, the Baron General had ordered men to pull extra duty rotations to cover the loss, but it was not enough.

The ghostly creatures found a hole in the defenses and circled around the sentries and night time forces, slaughtering many before they could regroup with the main force. The army had no choice but to move quickly southward, and hopefully find a strategic place to stop and turn to face the remainder of the dead.

For two nights this continued., but the forces of Acarthia have found just such a spot north of Tasis. While the Biata of Phoenix have not sent direct aid as of this posting, request have been sent from the army eastward. It is known the undead ravaged the northern border of Phoenix in their initial push.

For now, the army of Acarthia is holding, despite the unrelenting undead advance. We can only hope it continues.
