To whom this does concern,

You should know, I was asked to investigate the recent thefts from adventurers packs, namely, Gandian's Box and Ben's spellbook. I'd rather the investigation remain private.

I'd be much happier resolving this quietly and without rancor. If you return the box and book to me privately I can keep this from being a permanent stain on your accomplishments here. Gandian is allright with not pressing charges and I'm certain Ben cares more about his books return than he is with punishing you. Fact is, I like you a lot, and I'd rather not have to arrest you in front of our friends and our tavernkeeper. Remember, the burden of proof is on you to prove your not guilty, not on me to prove you are.

I have narrowed the suspects down to 3 and am close to eliminating at least one... that means your close to being caught. Please don't make me, and please don't run... Your smart, your still able to change but you have to make this call soon. So, you rolled the dice...you lifted a bit extra for yourself and you did a good job of it too... but do you really wanna play your odds again? 50/50 arent odds a hobling plays for a few measly gold not when your reputation is on the line...now how bout you?

Gandian and Ben,

I humbly apologize that this crime occurred within the confines of the Falcon's Roost. Please allow me to reimburse you for your losses. Seek me out when next we meet and I will see what I can do to replace what was lost. This goes for anyone to whom I have promised reimbursement for services; it is your responsibility to seek me out.

In the meantime, to all those would-be theives, if I catch anyone "lifting" anything within my establishment you will not only feel the full wrath of the law, but mine as well. Mistakes do happen, however, if these are deliberate and intentional acts they will not be tolerated. If there is but one sactuary or haven of safety within Hope's Reach, it is the Roost, and I intend on keeping it that way.

Given that Fern has already given amnesty to the perp in this case, I will not overrule it, however, if you not take him up on his offer, then you *will* feel the hammer as it comes down on you.
