An open letter to the HQ staff and players:

I apologize for my complete and utter lack of eloquence at closing ceremonies at our last event. Despite the fact that I obviously knew this was happening, when it came down to it I got rather choked up and was at a loss for words.

I want to thank not just the owners, but the players of HQ for putting their trust and faith in me for these past 3 years. The fact that I've handed over the reigns still hasn't quite set in - it's all a tad surreal. There were times when it was stressful, but I wouldn't give up the experience for anything - the excited faces of our players and the many thanks I have received have made it all worth it. But one person does not a plot team make. I had a lot of help and support over the years, and I would be remiss not to mention some of them:

Thanks to Scott for his guidance and support, and always believing in me - not just in my HoP days, but since I joined the game; Toddo for his great writing and uncanny ability to cut right to the chase; Mike V for never letting us forget the game's roots; Collin for his creativity and energy - and for reminding me how much we've grown as a team; Lana, the "unofficial" plot chick LOL; Tom, for convincing me I could do this in the first place; Amelia for a breath of fresh air; and Jesse G for helping us bring back some of the "good ol' days" and always being willing to kick around ideas.

And of course, the poor soul who lived and put up with me - the one who built incredible monsters, wrote great stories and was honest enough with me to tell me when my stuff needed reworking. The one who for too long was too modest to take any credit for the work she was doing. Ali: my unofficial - then official - Assistant Head of Plot. I love you - thank you for all you've done to help make this a success.

It's not really ending for me, though. I'm proud to still be a member of the team as HQ produces another year of epic battles, engrossing roleplay and war stories not yet told.

And wow this is totally reading like a "Who's Who" entry in a playbill or a bad academy awards speech... So I'll just leave it at this:

Thanks everyone for making me WANT to work for this game.

Humbly,
Michelle

Our only regret is that you stepped down. We loved every minute of it and the monsters were fantastic, getting to see and to play some of them made the game all that more exciting for me I feel sorry for those that have to try to fill the creative gap that is now there and can only hope that they rise to meet this challenge. On behalf of the players and NPC I think I can speak for everyone when I say, You have touched all of us with the story you weaved and we had hoped it would never end. My only hope now is that as a NPC that I can provide you with the enjoyment that you provided the other PC's during your reign.

Michelle,

I must echo Chad's sentiments, and add my own in saying that your story-telling, organization, leadership, and creativity played an enormous part in my decision to continue attending HQ events upon my return only a few years ago. You helped me and I believe many other players feel as though we could be a part of a greater process, rather than simply be "newbies" who watched higher level characters do all the fun stuff. ;) Your energy, enthusiasm, and devotion to making a positive, challenging, and dynamic gaming experience shall not be forgotten! Thank you so much, Michelle!

I'll come out and say it with no regrets. you are a nazi in NPC camp... and a nazi is what is needed. you always make sure the folks there who want to go out have something to do so there are more crunchies, more role play, less lulls, and you still manage to keep the schedule moving and deal with the twists the PCs throw at you. It was a pleasure to serve under you on the few occasions I got to NPC with you.

Not to mention sweet sweet mages guild plot... you will be forever loved for throwing a bone to this long suffering part of the game and giving us a chance to shine now and again.

that being said... Toddo... what do you take as bribes?

Don't forget to bribe the GM and site owner also.
