An open letter to the HQ staff and players:
I apologize for my complete and utter lack of eloquence at closing ceremonies at our last event. Despite the fact that I obviously knew this was happening, when it came down to it I got rather choked up and was at a loss for words.
I want to thank not just the owners, but the players of HQ for putting their trust and faith in me for these past 3 years. The fact that I've handed over the reigns still hasn't quite set in - it's all a tad surreal. There were times when it was stressful, but I wouldn't give up the experience for anything - the excited faces of our players and the many thanks I have received have made it all worth it. But one person does not a plot team make. I had a lot of help and support over the years, and I would be remiss not to mention some of them:
Thanks to Scott for his guidance and support, and always believing in me - not just in my HoP days, but since I joined the game; Toddo for his great writing and uncanny ability to cut right to the chase; Mike V for never letting us forget the game's roots; Collin for his creativity and energy - and for reminding me how much we've grown as a team; Lana, the "unofficial" plot chick LOL; Tom, for convincing me I could do this in the first place; Amelia for a breath of fresh air; and Jesse G for helping us bring back some of the "good ol' days" and always being willing to kick around ideas.
And of course, the poor soul who lived and put up with me - the one who built incredible monsters, wrote great stories and was honest enough with me to tell me when my stuff needed reworking. The one who for too long was too modest to take any credit for the work she was doing. Ali: my unofficial - then official - Assistant Head of Plot. I love you - thank you for all you've done to help make this a success.
It's not really ending for me, though. I'm proud to still be a member of the team as HQ produces another year of epic battles, engrossing roleplay and war stories not yet told.
And wow this is totally reading like a "Who's Who" entry in a playbill or a bad academy awards speech... So I'll just leave it at this:
Thanks everyone for making me WANT to work for this game.
Humbly,
Michelle
