Announcement of Festivities

People of Fairedale,

It is my honour to announce that on the second evening of the upcoming tournament His Magesty Prince Gilthalion will host a semi-formal dinner. This is an opprotunity for the noble defenders of Icenia to lay down their arms, let down their hair, and celebrate among friends. While you need not wear your finest silks, you may wish to don something finer than your daily battle garb.

The festivities will include:

A Cooking Competion - Contestants are challenged to create delicacies to be served to our guests after judging. Entries must be prepared before hand; the stove will not be available for use. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place. One person may submit as many entries as they please, provided they make enough food to (reasonably) go around.

A Brewer's Competition - Contestants shall submit a mixed drink to be judged. No alchemy or potions, please. Drinks will be judged on flavor, creativity, and presentation. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place. One entry per person.

Of course, dancing will be strongly encouraged. If there are any bards willing to provide music (seperate from the Entertainment portion of the tournament), please send me a missive.

May the stars light your path,
Merethir Sila Avariel
Master of Feasts

(OOG: You still have to pay the $10 if you want chicken or eggplant parmesan.)

Merethir Sila Avariel,

A question about the brewer's competition. Is it a mixed drink, or is it a brewed drink? The reason that I ask is because many of us come from different cultures and have different meanings for words. I know a mixed drink as one or more alcohols mixed with other liquids. A brewed drink as the alcohols used to make the mixed drinks, such as meads, wines, ale, or other alcohols. Sorry just looking for a clarification of the event.

Goodman Silverstorm,

I apologize for not being more specific. The competition is mainly for MIXED drinks, but if you hand brew a particularly interesting liquor or ale, by all means enter it in the competition. You see, we do not want people to simply purchase ales from their favorite master brewer and enter them as their own.

((OOG: Please do not buy Pepsi and enter it. If, however, you brew your own soda/drink/whatever OOG, you can definitely enter that. This doesn't mean you can't use comercial sodas in a mixed concoction, so long as you do something creative with it. This is an "honor system" thing.))

Darkan! As always it's good to hear from you. I am sure you're as excited to hear of the brewer's competition as I am certain Goodman Perwin is to hear of the cooking competition. I have had the very good fortune to partake in Darkan's meads and they are superb. Good luck to you my friend. Regretably, I doubt I will be near enough to Fairedale to partake in the festivities but you will have to let me know how it goes.

Hmmmm... not exactly what I had planned but maybe its fate.

Merethir Sila Avariel,

Do you think Prince Gilthalion would mind very much if I usurp a corner of the hall for my ritual? A froofy elf feast is probably not the most appropriate way to say goodbye to Braveroar, but I'm afraid both parties might suffer if we don't combine the two.

Michiko

Goodwife Michiko,

"Froofy"? Of course you may perform a Spirit Farewell for your friend. I am certain a celebration amongst friends would make his spirit's visit from the Hall of Heroes very pleasant.

Another question for our host.

The stove will not be avalible, but would the icebox be avalible for storage until the time the meal is to be served?

Amaranthus

Goodman Amaranthus,

Yes, the icebox will be available for participants.
