To the people of New Acarthia,

The Royal Loremasters Guild wishes to establish a chapter in New Acarthia, particularly as the town is such an intersection of people from so many diverse backgrounds. However, they haven't the people to spare, and so have asked the New Acarthia Mages Guild to host the fledgeling New Acarthia Loremasters Guild in the Mages Guildhall until they have numbers, funds, and leadership for their own guildhall.

Whereas the Mages Guild focuses on arcane knowledge, skill, and art, and where the Healers Guild focuses on the art and skill of healing and Earth magic in general, the Loremasters Guild focuses on general knowledge, records, communication, and history. They gather, store, and interpret information of all sorts. They will additionally be working on establishing a New Acarthia library and improving the status of the current book and scroll collections within the estate.

This is a much-needed niche that the Mages Guild has attempted to fill in the absence of a local Loremasters Guild, and in the process we mages have only discovered that we are poor generalists. As such, I have agreed with great relief to temporarily hosting the Loremasters Guild in my guildhall.

Senior Lorekeeper Amberion will be in attendance Friday evening of the April Ducal Gathering to introduce the guild and speak with prospective members. He will provide information on the admission requirements for the guild at that time as well.

Amberion will visit the New Acarthia Mages Guild and the New Acarthia Healers Guild during their guild meetings, as the Loremasters Guild will be providing various services to the Mages and Healers Guilds. Afterwards, he will be available in the tavern to speak to other interested parties.

Appendix: A quote from the document Guilds, Orders, and Organizations of the Kingdom:

Guilds said:
The Loremasters Guild grew out of loose associations of the sages of old. Their focus is knowledge, records, communication, and history. They gather, store, and interpret information. There are several affiliate organizations (the Royal Archaeologists Guild and the Acarthian Riders, most notably), some of which are subsets of the Loremasters Guild. The royal guildhall is headquartered in Rainsford, but has a notable presence in Three Spires and in the Capitol.

This guild is unusual in that it is divided into three specializations midway through the guild ranks:
  • Lorekeepers,or “Keepers”. These are chroniclers, recorders, scribes, writers and maintainers of information, archivists, historians, and librarians.
  • Loreseekers,or “Seekers”. These are the explorers, investigators, cartographers and archaeologists, as well as adventurers who seek out and retrieve information and artifacts.
  • Lorespeakers,or “Speakers”. These are advisors, viziers, heralds, consultants, and philosophers. They analyze information, study history, and draw conclusions. Often magistrates come from the Lorespeakers.
Loremasters provide scribing, chronicling, and advising services to many different people and organizations. As such, membership within the Loremasters Guild often provides discounts for certain resources and services at other guilds.
