Axes, Blunt or Edged?

While building a hybrid axe for no real reason, a buddy and I were scouring the rulebook for clarification on whether axes were blunt or edged weapons. Yes, I'm aware that real axes have hacking edges, but I'm also aware that they are often categorized as blunt in some settings.

Here's the weird part. Axes are built like blunt weapons (base weapon with extra foam bits at the end) but are categorized as edged weapons.
