Barbarian alternative or human???

I have a character idea I want to try down the road (after Alcandar dies/needs a break).
I come from an islander family, Samoan to be specific. My grandpa is from the island. I have a lot of islander things that are very tribal in nature. War paint, lava lava warrior wrap, necklaces ect. Could I play a islander (Polynesian) barbarian? I like the speech and mannerisms of the barbarian but firs specifically wouldn't fit, skins maybe. Or would I just be a human?

Very obviously primitive and tribal but not a traditional barbarian, conan style.
Or would this sort of character not fit in the IG world?
 
I forgot to reload the rulebook to my phone so I don't have it with me, but we can take a look at the wording and probably work something out. As far as the culture we can talk privately about it. ;)
 
That's how I used my Human Racial; he's from an island that's sort of like what you describe, though not quite so primitive.

Ahhh, it's good to be human. :lol:
 
JP has a character on the books that is very much an "islander" Barbarian. Great for summer months, a bit chilly for winter :) Not sure if I have any pictures of him, but maybe he can dig some up and post them here...

I seem to remember that he was also told that he needed to add fur to his costume at one point to be a barbarian
 
I think I will hang some fofur coon and squirrel tails off of a belt on the lava-lava for that requirement then.
 
Go Barbarian. It's awesome.

You could probably line the edges of the costume in furs, I can picture that looking good. (buy a rabbit fur coat at the thrift store and tear it apart for fur, that's cheapest). Fur will go through a decent sewing machine too, just be careful about jams. You can always tell people it's flying fox fur or something..

I was, in fact, told I needed some amount of fur for Kai, since the rulebook requires fur as a barbarian racial, but folks were pretty lenient with how much and what kind. I ended up sticking some rabbit pelts on a belt and we called it good.
 
LOL!!! That is awesome. I totally am going to call him "Scrambles the Death Dealer." I have been waiting to use that name. If only I could get away with that. =)
