bow construction

So I've been given a multitude of tips on how to make a NERO bow, and I thank everyone who has given me advice.

BUT, I need a little more. I can't find anywhere in the rulebook on recommendations on what to use for the core. I'm going to make a max-length bow, would 3/4" CPVC work? or would it be too whippy?

Thanks in advance.

Make sure you get a thick-walled version...thin-walled PVC is extremely whippy and very brittle as well.

Once you have a good strong piece of PVC you can bend it by heating it slightly with a heat gun.

In order to prevent the pipe from crimping you should pack it with sand or a neutral (non-chemical) kitty litter before heating and bending- this will help the pipe retain its shape.

In case of emergency, ask someone else.

If you don't have access to a heat gun, you can use the burner of your stove, as well. This provides you with a larger area of heat, but is also more dangerous.

Dan is absolutely right... Fill the PVC with sand or NON CHEMICAL kitty litter... The chemicals are dangerous. Speaking of dangerous: one more thing about burning, the off-gasses that occur from burning PVC are known to cause brain cancer.

Think on that for a while... if you're going to do this with a heat gun, do it in a well-ventillated area, if you're using a stove, turn the fan on.

One last thing:
Don't touch the burner, it gets hot.

I know that sounds stupid, but not as stupid as you'll feel if you burn yourself playing with a tube full of kitty litter in your kitchen at 3 AM, trust me, I know.

Always helpful, except in emergencies;
