Site Information
For most GPS, you will need to enter 4650 EAST Jenks Lake Rd, Angelus Oaks, CA 92305 in most navigation systems. This is an incredibly scenic drive to the site if you come through Big Bear Lake.

Our event is at the “Lower Camp”. Dependent on the GPS app, the Camp Nawakwa icon/address shows up but is INCORRECT. For whatever reason it lists the address above, but will send you to the West Jenks Lake area, which is 10 to 15 minutes away.
The roads are well paved and maintained up to the Camp entrance. The lower camp is about a half-mile back on a dirt road. Once you pass through the Camp Nawakwa gate, proceed to the upper parking area near the Dining Lodge, approximately 300 more yards. Signs or staff will be present to guide you.

San Bernadino International Airport is roughly 45 minutes from the Camp and Ontario (California) International Airport is roughly an hour.

Site Specifics (Camp Nawakwa)
  • Angelus Oaks is the nearest town. It has a restaurant, post office, small store, medical and fire squads. Big Bear is a 30-minute drive and has multiple grocery stores, restaurants, a hospital, and more.
  • Cabin assignments will be given out upon arrival at the site. For those with identified sleeping issues, the camp staff have OK’d individuals to stay in their vehicles. Please reach out to staff so we can denote this and make appropriate arrangements.
  • Bathrooms are out of game but the areas around them are not. There is a dedicated bathroom building near the player cabins,
  • There are showers in each of the bathrooms.
  • Hydration is key in any elevation. Hydration salts/tablets will be available upon requests.
  • There is limited cell phone reception at the site. Reception is fair prior to entering the mountain roads. Refer to the locations website for more information on this.

Food
  • If you would like to help with a meal or help with doing dishes afterwards, you will be getting goblin stamps for it. There will be a sign-up sheet posted by the kitchen for anyone who would like to help. If you help with a meal, make sure staff writes it down so we can get you GS after game.
  • If you have brought your own food or snacks, please keep them in a sealed container and labeled in some way.
  • If you help clean up after yourself, cleanup will go much faster.
    • This includes throwing out your own garbage, which are located in receptacles around the site. If you are unsure where it is, please find a staff member.
  • Menu
    • TBD
Fires and Smoking

In the Lower Camp, the site has a small amphitheater which can comfortably accommodate 70 people and also features a stage. Please note fires may be subject to United States Forest Service restrictions. As is normal practice, we must ensure all fires have been properly extinguished at the conclusion of usage. Please practice good fire safety prior to retiring for the evening. NO COMBAT will occur around the firepit.

Drugs/Alcohol
  • Per Alliance Rules, there will be no consumption of alcohol or mind-altering drugs at the event. If you have any signs of impairment due to these substances, you will be asked to leave.
Weather
  • The early projected weather for the weekend currently is that it will be mid-to-high 70s, with the evenings dipping down to the 50s. Things change quickly in this location and we will update closer to.

Parking – Once your gear is dropped off, we will be having everyone parking their cars just up the road from site. This all within a short walking distance.

Bedding – Bring your own linens, blankets, pillows, and sleep aids.

Site Exploration – The area around the site has incredible views. We at CAAZ encourage you to wander and explore the area around the camp, which sits at the northern foot of the San Gorgonio Wilderness.

Altitude Sickness – The site is situated around 6850ft. There can be some difficulty adjusting to lower oxygen pressure at higher altitude. Symptoms to watch out for include headache, nausea, fatigue, and shortness of breath. Hydration is key!

Dehydration - This issue is made worse at higher altitudes because of dryer and colder air absorbing more moisture from the body when in the lungs. Symptoms to look for are lack of appetite, nausea/vomiting, dizziness, and sleepiness. Hydration helps with this.
