Camp Sheppard? Where's that?

Awesome, only bout an hour away from me. Does anyone know what the layout is like though? Whats the IG location??

If you were there, this was the same site as the Moth/Biata Ruins event. As far as IG location, just hold on for a hook on that. I do know that the team working on this event is anxious to get something out... they said so.

A pre-event summary with location will be posted within the next two weeks, with a likelihood of the sooner rather then the later.

So how are the buildings? Like Miller, Like Silver, how?
How many are there, are they all the same size/layout/etc, which ones can we use, is there power/lights/heat, what are the bathrooms like, etc.

Off of the assumption that this is indeed the same site as we used before at Shepard:

They're more barracks / cabin style. There's 3 or 4 bunks on each side (So, 6 or 8 people to a side, 12 to 16 to a cabin easily) plus an upper loft area that has a table I believe. There's also a table or two between the bunks in the center along with the support poles.

All of the barracks are the same size, which is fairly spacious.

There are lights, there is power.

There are bathrooms similarly seperated like Miller.

There are two entrances to each cabin, one that goes up a couple stairs to a door (Possibly one on each side, not double doors though) as well as on the other side stairs going up to a landing that has a steel grating (Very sad times for anyone who falls on those whilst fighting... the grating was sharp from what I recall).

(Since I'm sure you're wondering): There's interspersed trees through most of the site, the cabins are along a gravel trail or four along with a few covered areas that house picnic tables and more lack-luster grills.

As far as which cabins and areas are usable, I suspect we won't know a concrete answer on that until we get there on the 6th.

The cabin-buildings are all identical, with two floors:

the bottom floor has a hallway leading to a porch out the back, and a larger wood bunkbed area with a table or two. Fits eight to twelve sleepers comfortably, more if you use the table as sleep-space.

The top floor is a loft that overlooks the main room. Sleeps three comfortably.

They are powered and have lights, including a light for the front entry-way. They are not heated.

The back porch has a wash basin, similar to what we have at the ELC at Silver Springs outside the bathroom.

Bathrooms are typical camping fare, with showers IIRC.

The "tavern" is a bit of a tight fit for everyone to be in, but workable. The kitchen is significantly smaller, but fully functional.

Something to plan for is that the plotline takes place in an existing township. NPCs will be assigned in-town personages and cabins, which will be as roguable as any other cabin. You may or may not be staying with town-NPCs, depending on personal preference and availability. Our goal is not to require that players stay with NPCs, but you may end up in a building with people you didn't plan on being with (PC or NPC). Some buildings will be set aside for PC-only, other buildings will be held by NPC-residents, and may or may not be open to players to stay at depending on the NPC-character and IG events and such. Also, keep an eye on the IG forums for game information that may influence what spells you prepare and such. Any information we put out the Tavern forum will also be available in printed form at the event during check-in.

If you have a specific OOG need for a cabin of your own, we will do what we can to accomodate you. If you have any other specific concerns with cabins (ie "I can't be in a cabin with Holly, she looks at me funny all the time"), let me, Holly, and/or Bryan know, and we'll see what can be done. Holly and I, and possibly Bryan, are planning on taking time off from work the Friday of the event to organize the site.

just for warning there are holes every where and the last time i was there i was running in the dark and trip on one of the holes  and jammed my finnger so watch out

Hopefully the trench isn't in the back area this time, too...

Good to hear that that trench went away. Almost broke my leg in that thing the first night there. Maybe see if they can spray for dream moths too, those things were nasty :D .

*no effect*

JK! My heads not completely empty... its just mostly filled with tv.. games.. and... uhh.. whats that one person.... oh ya! My girlfriend!! Her too...

If I remember correctly there are no mattresses on the bunks in there either, so people might wanna bring camp pads/air mattresses to use.

The bunks have mattress pads. They're nothing more than some 3 inch open cell foam with a cover, but it's better than sleeping on plywood.

Well, I did say "if I remember correctly", and I can't remember the last time my memory worked correctly cause, well, ya know....

As far as I remember, yes- I don't usually bring cookware to games, but I do remember eating pretty well (ie, better than camping fare).

Tell me about it! Thhhpt :P

Sheppard is very very similar to miller, just smaller and the mundanes that may walk through would be boyscouts instead of recreationists.
