Celebration

Slice

Fighter
I have fought beside many of you time and time again, we have sat for hours preparing for battles, talked constantly about our problems, our worries, and our grief. But as danger creeps forward and battle begins consuming our thoughts I can not help but want to celebrate the lives we are all preparing so hard to defend. We spend so much time in each others company and yet spend most of it worrying about what could take it away, instead of enjoying the time we have. I propose a feast, a celebration if you will in which we celebrate everything this town has so far survived, and everything it will survive in the future. Spirits are growing tired, and there will always be things we could claim are more important. But really if you are not capable of making time to enjoy the people you are fighting so hard for, you are fighting for a lost cause. Any day now the battle could be on our door step, any day those friends you planned to fight so dearly for could be lost to the realm of the dead and you could never see them again. Cherrish them now, celebrate them now. The battle will come and we will be prepared for it. Either way I intend to see us standing in victory. In the mean time let us remember what we all work so hard for....

Sunday evening the 20th, as darkness falls (about 6pm) let us celebrate. Bring food, drink, stories....

This is an open invitation to all who intend to fight beside us in the upcoming events. I do not care whether or not I know you, but know that I will be personally offended if I know you are in town and you do not show up.

(OOG: In the oog forum there is a list of what different people are bringing to the feast, please post on there what you will be bringing. In doesn't have to be something elaborate, time consuming, or non store bought)

It is my sincerest hope that this latest of dire threats to come along will be well over and done with by that time and that I, too, can feel like it is a time to celebrate. However, and this is just a personal but deeply seated feeling, losing focus in a fight can kill you as certain as any sword stroke. If She is still out there by dark on the 20th, prepare to be offended. I'll be out there getting it done. Anyone who shares MY feelings, I invite you to join ME instead. I'll have hardtack and water, with a side of satisfaction.

I dont really think its going to be an issue, as if She isnt dead, you know she will come over to dinner.

Solomon, I never said that we wouldn't call it off if it had to be done, I care greatly about this towns well being and the purpose of this fight. As I stated before, the battle will come and we will be prepared for it. When ever it shall come. Don't you dare treat me like I am ditching our cause. I have dedicated more of my time then most over the last two years gathering information and weeding through rumors to prepare the town for this battle. I am suggesting we gather for an evening, enjoy each others company, build up a strenght and hope capable of defeating our enemy. People are getting worn down and tired of chasing rumors. Give people a chance to remember what they are fighting for. I have seen you in the tavern in the past 6 months, prepared to get up and fight if need be but prefectly willing to sit with your friends or have a drink in wait. This threat is just as large now as has been for months. If you would like to work with me to make sure scouts are set in place and patrols are being done the help would be appreciated. Further I would be more then happy to sit down with you and talk to you about other defense systems we have set in place. The place will not be left unwatched. If you have any further comments though, in response to me, please, bring it to me personally.

PS. I will not wait for her to come to us if we have that option, but I don't enjoy dreamind about strategy or battle plans in my sleep so I will save that for a discussion we will all have in the waking hours.

I don't believe that I'll be attending for long, as I am readying some caravans to leave the area this weekend. I may say a few quick goodbye statements, but have my efforts concentrated on other things besides being happy about much of anything lately.

I'd like to add if I may

I don't have a very good past with most of you. Infact I've been in some pretty bad situations.
However, I'd like to take this chance to set things right. I'll be there this up coming weekend. I want to fight beside you all. Not against you.
Not as the person I was, but as the person I am.
For the Greatest cause of all.
For life.

And at the feast, Insted of mourning the deaths of loved ones lost in the battle to uphold this noble cause; whether they've long since died, or do in the next few days; I say we celebrate their life.
Friend or foe.

I learned as a young man that a soldier never knows whether or not the coming battle will be a success or if they will fail - and either way, good and people can and probably will die. That is why I *always* enjoy a meal, a conversation, a game and a taste of tobacco before a battle if the opportunity is given.

If I were there, I would partake. Drink one for me, eh, Captain?

Sigh, ahh the joys of the Dreamrealm where your first thoughts are the only ones and second guessing your messages isn't a luxury. Slice, I never meant to belittle all you have done for this town in the past. You have a patience and knack for piecing puzzles together I just don't have. You're thoughts on the matter of this feast however smacked of a "You are cordially required to attend..." invitation. You ARE the one in charge of this defense. I don't dispute it now nor have I ever and I'll take anyone who sais otherwise to task, but I did feel (and still do to some degree) that when you outright state that at a specific time and place there WILL be a celebration reguardless of our situation that people are going to take that as a reason not to be as serious about the upcoming fight as they need to be and instead focus on what to cook and what to wear to said party. Had you said "When all is said and done and we've planted that no good hag in the ground once and for all we shall party like gnomes on holiday" I would have offered to pay the band to play at it myself. There. I've clarified, you've clarified, 'nuff said. Now let's get back to focusing on the task at hand and hopefully I'll stop looking out my window and seeing Pascal's smoking ruins instead of Crocevia in my mind's eye.
