Circle of power and rituals

“Limited or Greater Circles of Power always possess either an Earth or Celestial aspect. When one of these Circles of Power is ritually cast, the caster determines the aspect of the resulting Circle of Power according to the aspect of Formal Magic that the caster possesses. A caster who possesses both Earth and Celestial Formal Magic may choose the aspect of such a Circle of Power.

Only Rituals possessing a general or Celestial aspect may be cast in a Circle of Power with a celestial aspect. Only Rituals possessing a general, Earth or Necromantic Aspect may be cast in a Circle of Power with an Earth aspect. Rituals of the wrong aspect for a Circle will simply not start.” (Page 164)

Do battle magic circles of power have an aspect? For example, what if I cast it using celestial magic, but have high magic in earth?

Also, does the “Rituals of the wrong aspect for a Circle will simply not start” apply as well for spellcrafting things requiring a circle (like spirit recall and limited circle of power)?

Yes. Any use of a Circle of Power by a character to activate a Ritual Scroll must have a an agreement about the aspect of magic being used, either Celestial or Earth for all three. Even if a character with both Celestial and Earth ritual casting, who is casting a 9th level Circle of Power from memory, to cast or spellcraft a General ritual, must choose one of the two and that choice must be consistent to all three.

Please be advised that all spells have an Aspect, which is determined by the spell slot used to memorize them.
