Coldness with Weapons and Armor

A number of things:
  1. It's going to be very cold this weekend, I just checked and it's not looking like it's going to be above 40.
  2. Check your weapons. Tape loses it's stick, foam gets stiff, and it hurts more to get hit when it's cold out. Weapons should be checked beforehand and on site throughout the event to ensure safe conditions. Bring repair gear.
  3. If a No-Armor day is called, a marshal has the right to see the rep that you would be wearing to make sure you are using a proper tag, so bring your armor, even if you don't expect to wear it.
  4. If you are wearing armor, KEEP METAL OFF YOUR SKIN. That's where you're going to lose the most heat. Chainmail is the worst type in the cold, since it's metal with a lot of surface area. Put several layers between you and your metal. I've worn Leather in very cold/wet conditions, and it generally keeps me warm, metal doesn't usually work this way.
We all live around here, or are used to the conditions, so we all know to bring gloves, extra socks, layers, blankets, etc, but I didn't want you so busy packing those things for you that you forgot to check your gear before you're on site to make sure it is prepared.

And now that I think about it

If someone will bring a couple of tubes of foam and a roll of black cloth tape (I'm not sure if monster camp has these things already) I'll go through monster camp and do spot repairs before game on if I'm able to get on site early. If I've got downtime around logistics each day, I'll try to do the same for anyone who's weapon has had issues and has extra materials.

And may I stress the socks part again. Keep your feet dry and you will have nice non smelly uninfected pleasent feet. Well you will have the uninfected part at least. You will also have less blisters wet feet encourage blisters. Temperatures are expected to get down to about 12 at times so stay warm if you think you are getting to cold take a time out and go get warm no one will be mad at you. There is also a chance of rain as well as snow which can make you very wet and cold.

my suggestion is that maybe there be a second weapons check at logistics each day to make sure the weapons are holding threw the bad weather? I would be more then happy to do this myself.

All good points. If MC doesn't chime in I can probably bring some foam with me (I need to check what I have on hand).

FYI
Eric will be bringing a box of latex gloves to the event feel free to use them as an underlayer on your gloves or mitts, this will help hold off the moisture cold wet gloves can chill you even faster.
have fun keep warm

Ok, each logistics i will be in the tavern doing weapons check, every weapon will be checked each logistics before they can be used again. This is just a saftey issue for weapons and making sure they are still safe. Thank you all for understanding.

Also because of the cold weather, I think it be best if people watch what you drink in the morning. Hot choclate or coffee may be a better idea. Not only will it warm you up in the morning but it will help wake you up alot better then a Monster or a Rockstar.

Hey Matt, I'm going to be bringing duct tape and what little materials I have to do quick repairs but if you can help I will take all I can get.

Brewer.
