I'm looking to get ahold of someone who's been dead for a few hundred years.
He's likely already been spirit farewelled.

If Sloan can't assist, I could attempt a non-traditional Hoary reading to breach the barriers verbally between this realm and the graveyard. I have done so in the past but, it was taxing and I did not get a verbal response. But, I did make contact the magic was executed perfect. Could you please send me a missive with the specifics?

I've said a total of two words to Sloan, and have never seen her in Valdanis. I doubt she can assist.

I really need to speak to the person, not just get them to appear.

Do you know if they now reside in one of the great graveyards? If so, have you attempted a contact other plane ritual?
