So I was at the last day game, and there sadly was only 2 people. 2 players that is...
to me that is a bloody crime but I can understand that maybe some of you all didn't want to drive, or that perhaps day games in the past may have been less than awesome. Okay
I can dig it.
So all I can say to you the players, and to any npc's and staff that are reading this ...you must be more proactive in your gaming experience. Games are hard to run, they require planning, communication, construction, and this substance that very few of us can hold onto called money. Insurance, site fee, food, materials, paper, printer ink, tags, scissors because we always seem to loose them etc etc. Cost money, and also awesome deco, new props, new costumes also cost some money, despite the wonderful donations that everyone has given. Day games generally run your staff (speaking from my experience owning a chapter in Cali as well ) zero overhead aka I'm not paying the park, and the money that is being collected goes straight back into the game. Which equals new coin, books, raiding a costume supply store, raiding spirit halloween.
That being said, for the pc the day game/faire day is a great opportunity to grab a couple of your friends, or your adventureing party, and go and do something that they would do, or want to do. Something that might be overlooked or downright passed by during an overnight when there is so much to do already. If you want to look for the epic tale of Sass Von-Biscuithead the wise, a day game might be a great place to kick that adventure off. Grab your homies, write up your stuff, and email it to your plot team. You all show up, and you have a mod or two, or maybe even the whole game day to yourselves, and come the overnight not only will you have alot to talk about, but you may have a bit more to do.
However this happy almost utopian vision requires that both sides of the fence step up their "game" a bit. Players need to help their plot staff with ideas, desires, the willingness to have a good time, and work with their storytellers to create just that, a story. Staff needs to help their players with communication and willingness to have a good time, and like the above tell a story.
So step it up guys support your game while they support your fantasical notions, and whims. Stick together = win.
./#end of rant/..!
