This is unacceptable. If they ruin any of my comics or try to make them more family-friendly, I will steal Walt's frozen body.

Nah, Disney wants to make money. They won't do that. They just want to sell Marvel toys at Disney World...

I hope. Not because I am a huge comic book fan (I'm not) -- but because I own a few shares of Disney stock! :D

Phew! Selling Merchandise is fine. As long as the source material doesn't get messed with, Disney can do what they want with the rights. Hey, we might even see Spider-Man in Kingdom Hearts!

They're already talking about a more 'family friendly' reboot to the Fantastic 4 movie properties. I expect this to go poorly.

But then again, if Disney editorial oversight avoids piles of **** like the last couple of years, then I'm all for it. Killing Captain America because he won't join a fascist Iron Man's efforts to suppress all superhumans, then having Spider-Man sell his soul (and his marriage) to the literal Marvel personification of Satan because the writer couldn't deal with the character as a married man?

Pssch.

And hats off to Stan Lee. I hope he buys an island lots 'o nekkid native girls on it. The man deserves it.
I'm fairly certain Stan sold off Marvel years ago, back in '89, for just under a hundred mill. He's got a world of headache with his own company, Stan Lee Media, and the fallout from all sorts of deals and shenanigans there. The current moneybag holders are Avi and Ike, IIRC. I'm sure Quesada and company are just hoping to keep their jobs. :)

What I think will be more interesting is what happens with some of the side-marketing. Marvel characters are one of the big draws for Universal (NBC), a rival company.

I wonder how this will affect Universal theme parks. They have the Marvel characters and an entire section filled with Marvel-themed rides. Will they close that section? Will similar rides open at Disney World? Inquiring mind want to know.

guessing it will depend on the licensing agreement. Also, not hard to change names and put up new characters.

All of this is still subject to investor approval, and government approval. Universal could also attempt to undermine the sale through backround negotations with individual shareholders. I'm at least glad I got to do Islands of Adventure now when it first openned up. It'd suck if Universal by happenstance lost its agreement with Marvel due to this sale.

honestly if it means when and if i finally ever get to DWorld I can get my pic taken with Ursula AND Logan....I may melt....jeepers I love a man with CHOPS!
