My friend's band Iron Thrones is in a contest called "No Label Needed" hosted by Scion and Metalinsider.net.

The winner of this contest gets a five song E.P. recorded by a top name producer (Machine - Lamb of god).
Inside tips and advice from recording artist Shadows Fall.
and all kinds of other awesome prizes!
It's a chance of a lifetime opportunity!

They need your help!!!

20% of the deciding factor is a public voting session lasting until March 1st.

It's easy and fast and it's for a good cause. Minneapolis local band for the win!!

here's how you do it:
Go to http://www.metalinsider.net\nolabelneeded and look for the voting panel on the right hand side of the screen.
Then, vote for Iron Thrones! You can vote once a day, so if you feel like casting your vote several times, please do.

If they win, I get to come along on a tour or two and roadie/be filthy, which is something I do best! Please lend them your support, as I know it would mean the world to me. Check them out while you're at it if you're a fan of bands like Mastadon.

Now, I'm aware that some folks who like metal are somewhat attracted to LARP, from my past experiences. And, I guess, being one of those folks myself. Are there any fellow metal heads about?

You fellas are my type of metal! My band, Arcanist, is recording right now- hoping for a myspace set up soon. Good to know the LARP community has some fellow metalheads.

Thanks to all who voted, Iron Thrones did end up winning the competition! Hopefully you'll check them out sometime, they're pretty interesting.

Also, another thing to deal with metal:

Have any of you seen the Black Metal documentary "Until the Light Takes Us"? I watched it last night... mind blown. Check out the site: http://www.blackmetalmovie.com/ the trailer is on the main page. If you have any interest or questions about the happenings around the church burnings, Mayhem or anything else from the early '90s scene in Scandinavia this is a great question answerer.

Robb, checked them both out. Not half bad! Do you guys tour much? If so, come through Minneapolis sometime! My band, Arcanist, is starting to record and we'd love to play a show. There's too few of our types around the states as of now! I know of only two other local bands that share similar taste.

@ Andrew: we don't tour much yet because we all live in different states. but my drummer just got a job for fantasy flight and moved to Minnesota so I am guessing when we do tour in support of the new album we are working on, we will definitely hit Minneapolis.

We are also trying to get a show set up at the fantasy flight GRRM weekend in Minneapolis in November if anyone likes "A Song of Ice and Fire", George (R R Martin) will be there and there are all the fantasy flight SoI&F games running tournaments.
