Hello to everybody!

My name is Kayla and I plan on joining the Ashbury chapter of Alliance. I've had some brief experience with LARPing and RP in general, but nothing as large as Ashbury. I'm very excited and I have an idea of what I want to make for my character, but I'm very confused on a lot of things. There's so much information to go through and so much I want to learn before I attend an event as a PC. I'm thinking of joining the April event as an NPC to get a general feel of how things play out and I was wondering about a couple of things.

Firstly, if I join as an NPC would I be supplied with a costume or would I have to bring my own? The only costume item I have left from my LARPing days is my cloak. I've yet to construct anything else for myself and to be quite blunt, I'm rather broke until later on in March.

Secondly, who do I talk to about receiving information packets about Wylderkin? I plan on creating a Fox(kitsune) one that specializes in healing but I have no idea where to even start, especially when it comes to her story. I don't have any information or background about any of the regions of the IG world.

If anybody could help me, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thank you very much,
Kayla

Welcome! Thanks for checking Alliance out!

It's probably a good idea to NPC your first event, as you're planning, just to get a feel for things and see how everything works. NPC costumes are provided, as well as meals and snacks. All you'll have to do is buy a trial membership (only ten bucks!) and, well, show up! :D

For the wylderkin racial packet, I'd contact Plot at allianceplot@gmail.com. I also recommend reading http://nerohq.com/advice.php, though most of that pertains to LARPing in general and not Alliance or the Ashbury chapter in specific.

If you have more questions, definitely continue to ask! Everyone in the Alliance community is really friendly!

Thanks,
Mike

Yep, costumes are provided for NPCs, but we don't have boots, so wear appropriate footwear (hiking boots are ok, but no sneakers please). Also, wearing a base layer of all black is best. Sweats are a fine base. It tends to get cold at night, so lots and lots of layers, and LOTS of socks.

Bring bedding too... there are some bunks in npc camp, but you'll need warm blankets or sleeping bag etc. A camp roll is a good idea too.

Welcome Aboard!

Well hey there! Welcome to Alliance, we're glad to have ya! :D

NPCing is super fun, and a great way to get introduced to the game. I'd also recommend bringing your own belt (or a few belts! You can never have too many belts as a larper!!) With your stage-crew style black clothes as a base, you're often given tabards or other baggy townie garments as costumes, so having your own belt to help cinch it all together is very useful. Any other little props of your own like gloves (and certainly that cloak) are great to bring. And yes, boots for running and fighting through rocky hills and forest paths are necessary. Annnnd lemme emphasize the extra socks and many layers for sleeping thing! It gets cold!

Other than that, if you wanna talk about Earth magic and healing from a character-development, OOG mechanic standpoint, I'm more than happy to chat with you about your character! I started a few years ago with a dryad earth caster, and I absolutely love everything about being a healer. Feel free to PM me (or look me up on facebook, or whatever you want!)

I can't wait for the season to start! I look forward to meeting you and seeing everyone again!! :D
