Good morning fellow adventurers,
I always take time away from an event before I write in my favorite moments, so, I'm writing these about three weeks after the event
First of all, seeing the ADL staff coming together the first time since our staff retreat and making it work has been amazing! We have a great team and I appreciate each and everyone of you, we went from a small skeletal team to a powerhouse that impresses me everyday. Thank you! I'll never say that enough.
Favorite Moments:
* Getting to site on Thursday night so we could unpack, unload, and prepare 24 hours in advance... was exactly what we needed. I can't imagine trying to get everything done in the short amount of time we have before an event. Seeing our Vegas crew and finalizing pieces of the event helped us all get in the right mindset for the first ADL event.
*Opening announcements - Seeing ALL of your faces and saying the words 544. It had been 544 days since we had been on that site to play Alliance Denver and it meant a lot to us to have the 85 members there for our first event! The was a sea of happy faces mirrored back at me, filled my very tired heart with joy.
*Walking through town during the first wave fight and seeing people RUN across the middle field and being chased, Human Vs Human fighting is hard because sometimes you don't know who is friend and who is foe. But watching it as a bystander was amazing, as plot you never know how people are going to react to it.
*The Library - I always wanted a space I could go and hide, with comfortable furniture, soft fabrics and an energy that feels like home. Creating that space so that when someone discovers it and opens that door for the first time they say, "Wow.... " - And it worked, I happened to be hiding behind a door when a group of PCs walked in for the first time, their reaction was amazing. (Thank you Paxton and crew for that!)
*Watching the big fight inside the mod room with Josh (Archie) as the thing that engulfed Preston (Graven) That was such a great encounter, watching the PCs try and navigate a wall of force, someone's death and how to cast a life spell on a dying man. The whole thing taught me a lot and showed me that even with 25 people on a mod, it can be spun up so that everyone stays involved. I was impressed with both sides of the house.
*My drunken pirate, she JUST WANTED A DRINK! Thank you Jay for making me laugh so much that night and for trying so hard to just get drunk with some pirate on the porch!
*Playing Cendorn. (IYKYK)
*Getting emotional with Mike (Korric) and Ryan (Bluwolf) when the circle went back up, watching the elemental path's begin to form again. I am looking forward to that spinning up. And getting to play the bee, she has a name, it was adorable.
*The NPCs, you all ROCKED it.. I was worried one of you would end up in the ER, slow down. We'll make sure you are fed!
*All of our new players, holy cow. The stories I get from some many of you make this worth it, you all bring new life and I see it on the veterans faces. They get to show off, be the big dogs on campus and show you all the ropes. Your presence has allowed me to be SOOO proud of the decision we made to not have a level cap, So thank you for showing me that.
*All of our old players, Thank you for coming back! This chapter was started with y'alls history melded into it and though that old world is gone, you are allowing this new chapter to be created in your character's book. Thank you for following our First Pillar, I am proud!
I am going to stop here because I could go on for days. Game 1 is over! Make sure you check us out for Game 2. (2 weeks!)
