Favorites for August 22nd Event

(I'll start it off.)

The favorites for your event! Tell it loudly and proudly, as one of the few people who were there! There were many things to happen, even with so little attendance, it turned out awesome. Let those that missed it become orc-green with envy, (no offense to orcs.) :P

Mine, and I'm sure I won't post them all the first time, but here they are:

We drowned a griphon! We had nothing else, so the first night, after we finally had him there, it was after the realisation that we didn't have the appropriate weapon to kill it, that we decided to prison it, and then we drowned it in the river. What excellent inginuity on the ones who came up with that.

Gwen' takin' charge! It was actually awesome sitting there and listening to her give us the briefings and our commands. Why, I'd follow her any day... if I wasn't a rat.

Mr. Snazzy-Dressin' Dominion Biata (whose name I'll probably think of right before I fall asleep,) whom we had under constant waylay for well over an hour. I tell ya, what an interrogation. The chair broke during it.

Anyway, lots of good moments, that's only three up there, but my mind is swimming, and I really should sleep. See ya'll in the morning, post something good!

This event was so many flavors of awesome. Though it was a combat heavy weekend, there was enough roleplay to occupy the roleplay-heavy people. The small attendance number meant lots of opprotunity to get to know the other characters. The town (all twelve of us) pulled together and held out without Plot having to throw us a life saver. (I think) Speaking of combat heavy, it felt so good to be effective this weekend! As a celestial caster, it's not every day that I get to seriously influence a battle. But this weekend, I was the only celestial scholar in town and I felt like I actually did something. Monsters died when I cast spells at them! Wow!

Scholarly fun. The Blaus chronicler was very cool. Finally learning something about the getragen bloodlines was awesome. Roleplay with blind man/entity was brief but fun. "What does that have to do with my breakfast food?" That encounter ended with a "Um... wow?" moment. Wendell's visit, which was interupted by an ooze attack. I got to show off my spell casting in front of Mr. Uber Ritualist!

Getting Laughed by Emilio! Wow, this was so much fun. I love playing a Stone Elf. Go emotional torture! Seriously, I had such a great time with this.

Stupid o'clock chatting in the tavern. Ren was invited to at least one party, and had to remind everyone that stone elves are not party favors and that the fact that she studies social interactions, does not mean she likes them. I think everyone's characters went to bed with a better understanding of geometry. The ducal soldiers, who came in later chatting about their impending doom, were hysterical.

Mental healing on a thoroughly shell-shocked (spell-shocked?) ducal soldier! Did I mention that I love playing a stone elf? Mind melds are explosions of fun. Wow.

Warpfang's teeth. Enough said.

The awkward silence after Skirfir suggested that Warpfang come on the mission to kill rats.

Roleplay with Amaranthus, Gwendara, and Zatarina. The biata plot sounded so cool! Judgement, trials, fun for the whole family. Ren spent the weekend hitting her head against a wall trying to reason with Amaranthus and then make peace between him and Zat. Though completely pointless IG, it was great roleplay.

Orlantha. What a villain. Ruthless, cunning, and absolutely bat sh*t crazy. She was scary even when she was captured and unarmed. Kudos, Ali. Emilio was great character as well. His interogation (broken chair and all) was fun. It was an interesting character-development experience for Ren, as I'm sure it was for all those involved.

Drowning the gryphon, especially after I ran up the hill, up another one, up the stairs, ransacked the mage's guild for a magic blade scroll and came back again; only to find a Prisoned gryphon floating in the river with four adventurers standing on its head.

The new porch! The site is getting more and more impressive each event. It was so nice to have that easy-access point. I still haven't gotten a chance to open a can of Magic Storm on the deck, but it's going to be a good time when I do. Also, I know it's not really an event favourite, but I feel I have to mention it nontheless: the glowing electricty orb thing in the Mages Guild circle. I love fun gadgets. Every time I did an Identification, I felt like a magic, stone elven James Bond.

Thank you, NPCs and Plot, for a weekend to remember!

I only made it to Sunday, but GEEZ! If i HAD been there, I would have spent most of my time on my butt! Ok, Favs (nut-shelled due to short involvment)

Witnessing the mind-flatening rp between Orlantha and Amoranthus as they duke-it-out.

Duke frost leaning over to his companion, looking me in the eyes, and saying, "Kill Her". O.O Eeep!!???!?!

Yes, the new porch.....(warning, shamless plug ahead) Work-weekends are awsum like that. We should do them more often!

Being given orders by Gwendara, and following them to a frustrating T.

If I had that much fun, only being there from 6am on Sunday untill closing ceremonies, I can't imagen how the PC's felt!

Ren's spot on walls and wizard lock that keep a ubber force back for the time we needed to do "something".

The Rat killing mod 2 Dwarfs over 6feet tall back stabbing rats. The Rats all looked great, and the Mod room was set up really nice for a fun mod that fighter casters and rogues could all love looked like the npcs had fun also :).

Gwen leading from the front and keeping the few rag tag people together and alive wile still taking out alot of the hard hitting fast moving quick thinking bads out this weekend.

drowning a griphon. just seemed wrong that we pulled it off but there were many a high fives going back up the hill.

Ill think of alot more later.

So...tired...

I was really nervous going into this weekend, and I have to say, the entire weekend felt exactly the way it should have gone : challenging, hard but not impossible.

Personal favorites:

All things Bill. Amaranthus is truly as much of an anomaly to Orlantha as she is to Amaranthus. I oblitted you, captured you, tortured you, held conversation with you, honor combatted you, and essentially made your brain go explodie; and you rolled with every single solitary curveball I threw at you. That's awesome :).

Getting to watch Toddo roll in as the blind man. So looking forward to how that arc continues; you did a great job Toddo thank you.

The PC's. I had a coronary the moment I realized that there were no nobles in game, and that we had a lot of roleplayers on what was initially a very combat heavy weekend. All of you rolled with the punches and came up with -awesome- ways to get around such low numbers (I especially loved hearing about the trap in the tavern, although unfortunately the last stand didn't happen. I'm sure -somebody- would've blown themselves up.) Great job for quick thinking!

Overall, there are a ton more favorites, but its before nine, my body aches, n' now I have to go back to that thing called work.

Thanks again gang!

I had a blast this weekend! Good times RPing to stupid hour in NPC camp.

Getting to be Lt. ****.

"I know Darken!" = the password for a bunch of trolls to more or less get through town unharmed.

Watching the craziness that was Orlantha and Emilio. Those two are nuts.

Being the ninja gnoll, I ran back and forth around that cabin strafing people and they never seemed to remember I had just attacked them.

The new stairs/balcony and private rooms in the tavern. They looked great and it made getting into and out of the tavern so much easier.

I'll put up more stuff as I think of it.

My mind is usualy a mess after an event. I always have trouble remembering details, but I had such a good time this event I must try to do favorites. Bear with me if its long.

Friday night, we realise that no nobles and no military leaders are comming, and that the small group we have is on its own. People saying that either Gwen or Amar should lead and the different reasons. The concensus that it should be Gwen. That was great.

Being one of the three biggest fighters in town, and possibly the highest spent build character at 194 build (193 spent). I never thought I would see the day when that would happen. Being chosen to lead a squad for patrol. Pritty cool.

So........obliteration...........yeah........THAT WAS AWESOME. 30 mins of RP hell/heaven as I try to understand my nemisis's motives and goals and fail. Addmitting how close I had been to becoming just like her. Jumping up, and biting the scroll and trying to tear it out of her hand, only to get nocked down and held down by a gryphon. Everyone's antics trying to get her to fail the ritual. Good try guys.

Saturday was a whirlwind of events. Being told by the homestone that I can not "shed the blood of the other tribes" which bars me from fighing non undead dominion. The river battle, fighting undead and after looking over my shoulder realising I was the only person left still standing in a feild of enemies. The hopeless and alone charge I lead as they moved up the path. One of the undead shouts: "He's got the crazy eyes"!!

Orlantha and her pet, Emilio. "Emilio......" "Yes, Muffin?". Best quote of the weekend. Fighing Emilio's group on the unscaled mod, and capturing emilio, dispite how close that came to a party wipe. The "session" with Emilio tied to a chair, while Amaranthus let loose two years of agression. Realising after I knocked him out the second time that I may never find a way to beat them, only kill them.

On that note. My method of rescuing Madocks. They can't hurt me, I can't hurt them, and I will have to be at the next summoning of the stone, so ok, I surrender, release him and give him all of his belongings. Amasing RP with Verfectors 121 and 125. The painful in game realisation at that very moment that aside from my rage, I had no solid agrument for my return to Icenia.

The ensuing conversation with Orlantha. I can not even describe how intense that was. FOIG about what was talked about, and we talk about a lot. "I am an agent of chaos Amaranthus, leave, and don't attack any of my troops on the way out"

Late night RP with "the doomed ducdal army". Metzler and the pickle. Why adventurer's suck. "and then that dragon icen showed up, and brought 9 kinds of suck with him." "do you know of vex squad" "you meen Maniac squad, yeah, I know of them. Just follow the screams" Best fishbowl in forever.

Last and certainly not least, everyone else gets a final wave battle, I get a one on one show down with the big bad herself, Orlantha. No spells, no gasses, just blades, and to the death. We are both getting low (me much lower as one more hit from her main weapon will drop me, two from her spear) when she stops and shouts at me to kill her and end it. Duke Frost in that moment telling me no, that she will be traded for the lives of others. The ultimate delema for Amaranthus, and Orlantha grabs the end of my sword which was on her anyway, and drives it in with a little help from me. "I'll just life her" me: "I know"

Such a good weekend, and there are even more things that I am missing but this is long enough, I should get to work. Thank you plot for such a good time, and giving Amaranthus the chance to shine. This weekend had Amar on the rollercoaster ride of "who am I, and where do I stand?" It was awesome.

The town (all twelve of us)
There were fifteen of you in all. Easiest Logistics ever!

Some Dark-side faves:

-- 3-way Biata roleplay to earn the trust of the Stone. I played the Ambassador so much that I almost felt like a PC.

-- Playing Gnolls coming to evict the PCs from town because the Dominion told us we could have the land if we helped them. The popcorning come off in sucha way that Ali wound up coming in solo for her second life "Hey, guys, sorry I'm late" *sees she's alone against the PCs 'Oh, there's 1, 2, 7, 13, 22, 37 of you. Do we have to do this?" ...or something to that effect.

-- Playing a Dominion gryphon. 'nuff said

-- Orlantha returning slaves to the town....they just happened to be a bit more bony and a lot less fleshy than they used to be, but they could still walk around *wink*

Well, time to prepare for the National event. OASI!!!!!!!!!!

Favs!

Being the BIG fighter? What? I've never front lined an entire event in my life, let alone be one of the biggest fighters! My fellow front liners were awesome- probably more useful than I was swinging higher!

Combat scholars and alchemists! Those guys did at LEAST as much offense as we sword-swingers did!

Gwendara in charge! She did a great job commanding, and EVERYONE did a great job making her plans work. Everyone did their job, only better. Small group though we were, we were an awesome team.

People actually addressing Kiki as "Sheriff". I love it when people play along with Kiki's gimmicks. And thanks to all of you who got that broken look on your face when you saw her schtick- it's very flattering.

Playing a carefree fighter. So much easier a job than my normal healerness! And forboding mood? What forboding mood? My character is too crazy to feel forboding.

Speaking of crazy, talking to Orlantha at the end of the event as Kiki. It was frightening that we almost seemed to click, as we are both thoroughly insane.

Preparing for the final battle. When we realized that Orlantha didn't know that the Duke was here, Frost's response was "Does anyone have a cloak?"
I couldn't surpress an evil grin. I love watching him work.

Koshi's mom. Very well done. She actually looked like she could have been his mother. Only moment I wish I was playing Natalia (since Kiki really had no reason to interact with it). But beautiful nonetheless.

Those are just some highlights of a weekend of nearly non-stop memories. Very nice weekend. Glad I went. Glad I went as Sheriff Kiki Sanchez.

Wow, ok as usual there are a lot of things I really liked but I'll narrow it down to a few.

First off, the site looks wonderful! I wasn't there last month to see all the work you guys have done but it's fantastic.

The biata plotline was awesome. Of course I may be biased, but I really liked the riddles, questions, and requests of the stone. Really great.

The overall feeling of being hopelessly outnumbered and surrounded by a superior enemy was electrifying. I am honored IG and OOG that I got to lead the town through that event. I had some fantastic ideas and back up from everyone. Really I can't take the credit for our success, everyone filled in roles they don't normally fill and played at 100%. Super super event.

The writing and execution was great. I know Ali you were worried about playing the big bad of the weekend but not only did you pull off the enemy we love to hate but I *dreamed* about Orlantha on Friday night. I mean...that's when you *know* your plot is getting into someone's head!

All things Amaranthus. I'm so glad all that work you've done on the character has paid off and the difficult decisions we had to make together really made the weekend for me. Trying to reason with you, but also let you know I understood where you were coming from and not to sacrifice yourself in all of it. Good, good stuff.

Drowning a gryphon. 'nuff said.

Setting up the last stand of Fairdale. While it didn't come to that, we had one heck of a hold out position set up. We all would have died, but the Dominion would have paid for it!

Finally, sneaking the Duke out in our last fight against Orlantha. Having the Duke ask me to hold onto his crown was stunning IG for my character, and then fighting next to him. Excellent.

Oh!! And the very best thing? NO RAIN!!!!!!!

Thanks for a killer weekend!

-Christine

By far and large, the best favorite for me on the weekend happened when the PCs were not quite there just yet.

Emilio: "Do you know what the best thing about taking over the world is?"

Orlantha: "What's that dear?"

Emilio: "No one can tell me I can't skip.." And Sean proceeded to skip off to go kill adventurers while Orlantha's inner monologue was "Aww...he's so cute going to raise undead and cast necromancy like that..."

Insanity.

more favs

Drity old man talk/contest with Darken Andros Kaden and Mattock. Not really stuff for this board but was still really funny. ( Darken won by alot )

throwing lights at the feet of spoted bad guys befor they sneak up on the other pcs.

The great times in the last wave battle rolling the hell out of people that were set up for backstabs by other people. And then kiting people past other rogues and scouts to get then tooled. 5 pcs had Waylay and all of us got them off the that fight. But the high five after a waylay over top the fallen npc way the best part. I was wrong rogues dont suck you just need to have half the town as them :) .

Picking up kayden's sword ( spellcrafted magic ) and fighting the magic to hit undead. I trick out of the barbar play book.

Taking the LONG way around to get in the back of all the waves. Getting there just in time for the 2nd wave to not know what hit them. Thank you Pcs the helped with the huge set up in the gnoll fight.

Ill think of more

Tim

Finally have a chance to post! Anyway, I had more fun at this event than I have in a long while- the small events really remind me of why I started playing in the first place.

So Faves!

-3 swamp trolls go out as patrol mod crunchies, me, Sean, and Amy. We're going, so what would happen if the swamp trolls just wanted out? Would the PCs go for it? Apparently with Sryah, Darken, and assorted other peace-loving types, they do. The trolls claim to just want to get out, and occasionally "kill the bad featherheads" since they're mean, and thus the "I know Darken!" treaty is born. Seeing other trolls try it later and get run out of town made it even better.

-Orlantha: "Oh dear..." Emilio: "Yes muffin?" *snerk*

-Emilio skipping

-Being a mature gryphon and squawking at people, while motioning how tasty they would be... nom nom nom. And of course Darken's propositions, highly inappropriate as they were. ;)

-Again, crunch mod turns into roleplay! Me, Sean, Elissa, and Amy as Dominion down at the river. PCs come down with Amaranthus at the forefront, and of course banter ensues as we taunt him for being a meat shield. Fighting, we drive them off, and oh look! We have a dwarf they left behind! Then Amaranthus comes to rescue him and actually goes for the trade, him for Mattock. The 25 minutes of roleplay that followed was incredible- Sean and Elissa came out with argument after Dominion argument... just awesome to listen to. I just wish I could have watched the interchange between him and Orlantha!

-Ducal soldier last minute fishbowl, put together because we heard there was free food. "We're doomed, might as well enjoy our last night alive." Sean's dissertation on how anything from any magical place just brings loads of bad with it- Nine kinds of suck, in fact. :D And of course the MWE party totally ruined by Lieutenant C*ckblock. Oh dear.

-PCs rig the tavern to blow? AWESOME!

-And of course the site improvements- the deck looks awesome, the new facing on the barn made it look so much more in-period... I can't wait until there's even more done.

That's all I can think of. Thanks everyone!

-Illana

My favorite of Nero can be summed up in just returning after my latest year and half hiatus in the game. Besides people saying its great to have ya back it just fell back into the old routine.

Running monster desk and getting back into the habit of figuring out what should go out before the mods were even scaled felt like In hadn't been away at all. Though the first few times were a bit slow.

Having myself kick into Nerodrive midway Saturday was great. Going from feeling rusty to looking inward and thinking "damn it I'm better then this" and then living up to it felt great.

Having people who I just met make me feel like returning family felt great. BTW Meg (I think thats your name) Stay a huggy person!!!

Now onto actual Nero moments:

Emilio: "I just reaized my goons are all more powerful then me, this is great!"

Rockem Sockem Amaranthus!!!!

Me as random Dom Biata"Master Emilio, Orlantha humbly requests your presence." Emilio "Oh I know what that means" ...also just minutes later hearing the dinner bell and turning to each other "awwwwww"

"I have NO PACK!" and the feeding and requests that ensued.

Uhm You can piece this together when the newsletter comes out but Bill will get this. Amaranthus "Healing Arts" me "I Dissapate" Amarnathus 'F**K!!!"

It was very interesting being one of the people at the beginning of where this plot thread began and seeign it at this point.

Ducal Knight Jonothan.

Jonothan and Emilio stare down both PC's who went to NPC's just on different sides of the fence.

Ok now for one thign that got to me this weekend but really it has nothign to do with the overall weekend. sitting at monster desk stating and Scott came over in a new costume. Currently Scott had a nice mustache goatee combo going and he put on a Hat lovingly refered to as a tuke/took (sp?) . It was a trademark look that reminded me very much of John and robe home how much I was right, that I would feel this big hole where he should be. I'm fairly certain though I honored his memory in the best way possible by having such a good time at the game and helping others have such a good time, so I cant let my return to Nero and my first post on the board since then go by without saying "I miss you buddy and how ya doing up there?"

Everybody thank you it's good to be back.

Rockem Sockem Amaranthus!!!!

How could I forget that one! To explain: Obviously, Amaranthus hates Emilio. Amar is basically the last one standing, Emilio kept healing him to stand back up to fight and, madman that he is, Amar just kept fighting himself to exhaustion. The "Rockem Sockem" part comes from me as an undead backpacked by Will's Dom biata fighting Amar who is constantly being healed by Emilio for Emilio's amusement. All of this happening because Amar just has to keep fighting and, well, because Emilio is just insane. Absolute top notch moment!

I missed Will M.?

Dammit......

Will, please come back and play with us more! I haven't seen you in almost 2 years!
