Food and Lodging

So as this will be my first time at HQ I had a few small questions about the coming event that I will be pre-reging for very soon.

First one was about lodging. I am coming alone, and I'm not signing up for any particular cabin and/or sleeping accommodation's so I was wondering what there is for a single traveler? Are there rooms in a common inn and/or safe place to keep my stuff? Can I set up a sheet and Ward off a personal room or no? Just wondering what I can expect for that.

Second I was wondering about food. If I pay for the meals ahead of time through Paypall do I still have to pay IG money for the food, or is it free? And if I were to bring my own food is there cold and hot water provided that I could use stuff?

Thanks!

First of all, welcome to the HQ site.

Since many of the people who regularly play HQ are at the kid's event or doing other stuff, I'm going to try to answer some of your questions.

1) Lodging.

There are currently three cabins at the site with more being built in the future. These three cabins are usually used by adventuring groups or noble courts.

There is a "common room" in the tavern which is used by unaffiliated players (such as my two characters) to stay. You basically have to pay a silver to stay there each night, but you should find someone to help you with that in case you need the money.

As for Wards, I believe that you cannot ward the common rooms, but that could have changed. These rooms are essentially a few tapestries hung over a clothes line to make some of the rooms.

Keep in mind you will need an air mattress since there is no bunk bed in the tavern.

2) Food.

If you pay for the one dinner and two breakfasts on Paypal, then you will not have to pay IG money for those. You will at logistics recieve a token for each meal. Each have a different symbol stamped on them depending on the meal.

Any extra drinks will need to be paid with IG money. Also keep in mind that there are no lunches during the event nor is there a dinner on Friday night.

If you asked for water to use, I don't think the people running the tavern will mind.

Just a few quick comments on Jim's post. First off, thanks for taking the time out to inform him of what to expect.

1. There are now bunk beds in the common room, and often times sections of the common room are warded. There are not always enough bunk beds for everyone, so I still suggest bringing a sleeping mat/air mat of some sort in case you get there and all the bunks are claimed. This may or may not be a problem with the number of PC's that have pre-reged.

2. Usually the tavern doesn't have a problem providing hot or cold water for you to use. I've made ramen and other soups that I've brought on my own.

That's about it that I could see to "update" from what Jim posted. I'm sure someone else will chime in if there's anything else you need to know.

Thanks so much for the information! I can't wait to see the site. Sounds like the common room will work just fine for me as my PC often travels alone. I'm not destitute of IG money by any means I just wasn't sure if it would be like multiple gold or not... Different chapters often have different economies and I didn't want a harsh surprise.

Now I thought the kids event didn't interfere with the regular HQ schedule? But I guess some folks wouldn't have the time to double up and thats understandable... I have 3 little brothers 10, 8, 6... my poor parents. ;)

Anyways I can't wait and thanks again!

Another question about the camp - any showers available and what are some good hotels nearby?

James, there is an awesome shower room on-site with hot/cold water and sinks. Check online for motel information for the Montrose, PA, area. Note: there are two towns named "Montrose" in PA, so make sure you're checking the one in Susquehanna County.

David, the kids event was this past week-end and it was a blast! We'd love to have your three brothers at the next one!

I know! They would totally love to come, it just conflicted with something they were already planning on doing this summer saddly. However I will get it on their scedual for the next one! :D I am training them quite diligently in spells and fighting. ;)

NPCs sleep in NPC camp. We usually set up our tents within the room (it's huge). We have our own little tent city going on in there. An air mattress and sleeping bag will do if you don't have a tent, but we usually put em up for a little privacy (and just in case the roof leaks - which it does if it rains really hard).
