Question for the people at large. Whould you be willing to pay $5 additional to the site fee for 3 meals through the event?

$5 for 3 meals is far less than I would spend myself to make those meals. Therefore it is not only efficient but easier to do. Yay! Everyone wins!

Personally I would see it as fair to not pay IG for the food but to pay IG for dishes/cleaning if such a service were available (and then pay OOG money for the food and no OOG money for dishes/cleaning - again if individuals choose to make such a service available).

would I want to pay it? No, is it a fair price for people who want to pay it? Yes.
I say no for me becouse 1) I dont eat much at events and 2) I have food alergies and some food dislikes that always show at group feeding things.

Before answering I'd be interested to know, if this is something you implement are you intending to implement it as adding $5 to the price of game at the door whether you eat or not, or making it optional for people who "food prereg"?

This would only be added for those who choose it. It would also require a minimum number of people to work. $100 can feed 20 people 3 meals, $10 cannot necessarily do the same for 2.

I would probably do it

I would probably do $5 just to have the conveinance of a few meals waiting. Whenever I've had prepaid food before I still brought my own, but as we all know- having the time to cook and scheduling your team's mods or moments of crisis to enjoy dinner can wreck havoc on your calender.

I would do it if (and only if) the food times were convenient to me and posted well in advance. This would also mean that the meals would have to be scheduled with plot so not to conflict mods with probable 'meal times'. If you were to do something like OR, and shut down monster camp for an hour during logistics, eating during that time period would be ideal.
I assume that the meals would be Dinner/Breakfast/Dinner, or possibly Dinner/Lunch/Dinner, and leave out Sunday entirely. (People don't tend to eat much on site on Sunday, and it would cause a conflict with cleaning site to some extent.)
I could also see this benificial to plot if breakfast were run, that would give the pcs (and NPCs) an excuse to be up and active at a specific time.
All in all, I agree that also paying IG would be a bad idea, but I have no problem pitching a silver or two for "service/dishes/etc".

No, I'm more likely to pitch an extra five bucks for assorted cheap-o soda and snacks available to be stolen, sold by the tavern, poisoned, and consumed throughout the event, which I may or may not take part in.

While it seems like a good idea on the surface, in past times whenever we try and plan to do a big group meal whether provided by plot or players, it seems to disrupt game flow. We always bump up into problems like Team A is gonna go do this quest at around 4 so that they'll be available for the big town epic fight after dark, but then monster camp takes an hour longer to get ready than that and then "Oh, well dinner is in half an hour so we can't run it now, you guys'll have to come back after dinner" which is when you have to go do the big mod so you don't get to go on the quest you really wanted to.....

It's one thing if a group of player's spaghetti gets done at a poor time for that, you can just go without em, but if half the player base and most of the NPC's go down for it, then game HAS to stop for it, and that bugs me.

The proposal is designed to look as such:
Meals would be Lunch Saturday, Dinner Saturday, and Breakfast Sunday.
IG prices would be negledgable (counted in copper not silver and gold) just to keep an ingame feeling for it and those preparing it and cleaning up after it would recieve their payment on a tip basis. The common understanding would be that people couldn't purchase extra meals unless there were spare. If a character were truely broke they could wash some dishes to "earn their keep".

Means would have a specified time (11-1 saturday, 6-8 saturday, 10-12 sunday). This is aimed to give enough time for people complete mods and still make it in time for foods. Meals would be complete sit down service with servers.
Food would be simple fare such as a chicken, mashed potatoes and carrots dinner. Stew and bread or pulled pork sandwiches lunch. crapes or bacon eggs and toast breakfast. Efforts would be made to keep any known alergenics out of food but we would be unable to accomidate all requests or provide substitutions.

I would have to say yes if i had the extra 5 dollars i would deffinetly like that.

I also thought I'd throw my two cents in on meal prep. If you are cooking for 20+ people for an event, there are plenty of recipes that can be pre-assembled before event. The key is prepay, or at least pre-reg for food.

I just did three meals for an SCA weekend and was cooking for 25 or so people. I had everything setup in coolers and cooking trays, so that the only thing needing to be done was cooking/heating 30-45 minutes ahead of time.

If you are looking for complete meal recipes that can be served to a group, take a look at crockpot and dutch oven recipes. It saves a lot of time and space to prepare stuff in advance.

I think all told, I spent about $50-$60 or so for 75 meals. Again, prep is key. If anyone wants to shoot cooking ideas by me, contact me. I ran the kitchen at NERO NW for a while, and I was also a cook for 300+ scouts at camp (some skills are handy to have!)

If i make it to the event I would be more than willing to pay 5.00
IF we have to prereg for this and pay I would do so

I would like to chime in on this one. Would this be catered? Or would the additional cooking fall on a certain Inn Keep's Shoulders? I wouldn't mind the additional mouths to feed...But, if that were the case I'd certainly like some help in the kitchen. Also, I'd need to know how many people well in advance, in order to maximize my shopping. The biggest problem would be likes and dislikes. Someone doesn't like mushrooms, corn, or whatever....or their religous beliefs require the food be kosher...or they are Vegan....

The generic meat and potatoes isn't a problem. I cook what I cook. you eat what I cook, or you cook for yourself.

My two cents.

So for the sake of those prepairing the food do you want a prereg for meals?

At this time I would like to prereg
Valvatein
Demetre
Plazz

I think it would be a good idea to have a starting count so there is enough food for those wanting this service.

I like the idea and I would definately pay both IG and OOG. OOG because food costs money. :) IG because I think that would add a little to the atmosphere. :) Especially if the prices were in copper and not higher.
