Fortanis

Yes, and I'm disappointed accordingly.

I'll believe it when I see it. I believe it was "At least 50% Fortannis", thus we're fully free to run 100% since that would cover the 50% part nicely. Guess I'll have to find something else to do with my time.

You're right, we are free to run 100% Fortannis. There is also scepticism and negativity. one is healthy, the other can be destructive.

Our intent is to run on the 50% number. A soon as the non-fortannis is ready to run, we'll do so. At this point, it's looking like April (at Miller) will be the first non-fortannis event.

I'm looking forward to it reguardless, but I'm pretty easy going. Might be easier to get people psyched up for the new campaign if we had some idea as to what to look forward to in new stuff that will differentiate it from the Fortannis campaign. Give people an idea of what new characters they may want to play in it and such, get psyched up, ya know?

Both games need more build-up. I really have no clue what to expect at either game, so I'm not sure who to play, what to look forward to, etc. (Though I may have something in the works for November, depending on my work schedule and such)

A thought that occurred to me last night was that some people may not want to risk playing their characters before they know what the plans are for the non-Fortannis game, and if they're going to get duplicates of their characters, half build, nothing, if their "stuff" will transfer, if they can transfer in their characters from other chapters, and all the rest. Once people know what to expect, they might start making better plans.

Last night at the staff meeting we laid out a scheme for this. People will be able to create new characters for use in the non-fortanis campaign at the same build level they currently have... essentially it's a re-write of the character. Since they would be new characters, they would start with a weapon and starting cash (just as any new character would)

For example - I decide I want to play in the non-Fortanis world. I take the build Rupert has and make a new character based on that number for use in the non-Fortannis world. I then make a new sword (normal sword) and get my starting coin based on my level (I forget the formula right now) and go into game as this new character - whoi is not Rupert.

Rupert stays in the Fortannis DB and is still playable in Fortannis games. Questions?

1 - Current from what date? IE, can I do a rewrite of Kai now, then perm him in the November event, or does the rewrite occur at some future date for characters that have survived to that point?
2 - Can players choose not to rewrite at all, and carry over the roleplay/history, but none of the stuff?
3 - Can players "trade in" their Alliance characters from other chapters (Oregon, California, what have you)?
4 - Can players "trade in" characters from other LARPs?

It will be from the point that the announcement is made that the character re-writes are live for the non-Fortannis event. We are working on a seperate DB for making this happen.

At this point, no. It is preferred to have new characters coming into this new world.

3 - Can players "trade in" their Alliance characters from other chapters (Oregon, California, what have you)?

Yes, this would be allowed

4 - Can players "trade in" characters from other LARPs?

This would be reveiwed on a case by case basis. Other Larps do not run character experience, etc., the same way we do. Each one would have to be looked at before a "transfer" to our system could be done.

Personally, I have a bunch of ideas for characters (treasure hunter ala TombRaider/IndianaJones, for instance), but I don't know if they will work with the world intended for the non-Fortannis campaign (doesn't work in a city-based game with a multitude of off-board resources).

Do you have a date by which we will know the following:
Who will be on Plot for the two campaigns?
How will the game environment look/feel?
What differences will exist in the rules?
When will events be scheduled, and will the scheduling be alternating (swap back and forth each month), or seasonal (ie run three to six months of one game, then three to six months of the other, then swap back)?

So, let me get this straight. I can create a new character for the non-Fortannis games with the build that Harlock has?

Correct. You wont loose your old character, you just get to use his build total for a new character that you would like to make. Then he starts with everything a new character starts with, what ever armor or weapons you have plus starting coin.

Awesome. Ideas are great.

Do you have a date by which we will know the following:
Who will be on Plot for the two campaigns?

Nick Bond is heading the plot team for the non-Fortannis world. Heis recruiting for said team.

How will the game environment look/feel?

|From my understanding it will be a much darker world than the one we are using for Fortannis... Nick will be giving more soon.

What differences will exist in the rules?

At this point in time the only difference in the rules I am aware of is the addition of religion as we have discussed several times. Other than that, we will be using the Alliance rules set. As other variations are made, an addendum will be kept.

When will events be scheduled, and will the scheduling be alternating (swap back and forth each month), or seasonal (ie run three to six months of one game, then three to six months of the other, then swap back)?

Right now the only one on the board is April. I do plan to swap back and forth between the two, running 3 of each through the year. This may change based on player and staff feedback.

Thank you for the responses, Dave. My question was whether or not we have a date by which those questions will be answered fully, though. IE "We will have the Plot team, campaign world, and schedule solid and publicly posted by Jan 1", or some such.
