Friendship, and trade for magical swords

Greetings from Barran,

It appears that my dreams are bringing me here often as of late, which usually happens before the mists bring me to a gathering. Though I do not claim to understand the mists, it does appear that they often bring people in times of great need. My name is Sornelintion, though some call me Eagle-eye. My homeland is the Ash Forest, in the Duchy of Ashbury, in the Kingdom of Icenia – though I am currently on leave in the lands of Barran, pursuing a quest of honor.

First and foremost, I seek friendships, wish to learn of your cultures, and hope that I may be of some help, however small, in solving some of your problems. The exchange of ideas, customs, and languages is often quite rewarding – and maybe one day the mists will bring one of you to my native Ash Forest, and you may be of help in diminishing the suffering we are experiencing of late. But for now, perhaps a fellow elf would be willing to put me up in your ward?

Travel also opens the doors to trade. My few travels so far have shown me that some lands are lacking in items which others have in abundance. For example, I have a supply of Feyander from Icenia and Barran which I would be happy to bring, if there is interest in trade. I also have a supply of the easier battle magic scrolls, and might be able to procure some magic items which cast a lesser spell per day.

I myself am seeking enchanted blades, which can be wielded with one arm, of any variety. This may include blades which channel spells, parry spells, have auras, or are especially powerful against certain types of creatures. I might also have interest in an enchanted bow or crossbow.

Regardless, whatever deals we make will have to be worked out within the next week and a half. I will soon be visiting my temporary lodgings in Blythedale where I keep my supplies, and I do not like to risk travel with more than I need. In addition to the aforementioned items, I also have coin for trade.

Sincerely,
Sornelintion of the Ash Forest

If no one can supply you with a ward and you require assistance with a wizard lock, the Sign of the Raven might have a battlemagic scroll kicking around.

Making trades or purchases for scrolls or magic weapons here can be tricky; there are many ritual scrolls whose magics (and the items that result) will not function back in Icenia or in this Barran place. (OOG, the WC chapters take outside LCO items with some limits, and players can use gobbies to purchase LCO scrolls.)

Elemental slayers and activatable elemental auras are extemely useful here. Bring one if you can; if it puts someone at ease to lend you one, I can spellcraft a spirit link for a reasonable cost so long as you provide the components. My name is Phedre, and I've traveled a bit in Icenia and Moria, and extensively in Caldaria and the Deadlands if they ask or you care to know.

If you arrive in the dark, stay quiet and don't go yelling for adventurers. Find the tavern. Avoid spiders and elementals, they'll see you as dinner or someone to acquire in a nasty sense of the word.

Good luck while you're here. If you're used to a pecking order based on belts or chains or spurs or whatever, this place will be interesting for you. We don't have any of that, there are no local nobles. We seem to be the only mortals here.

Oh, and don't resurrect. We have no control over the earth circle, wherever it might actually be. If you do resurrect... well, I hope your affairs are in order back home.

Dear Phedre Shanshi,

Greetings from my temporary lodgings in Blythedale.

Thank you for the advice. It does appear that you have travelled more extensively than I - indeed Barran (OOG Gettysburg) has only recently been openned to the mists, after a long and bloody war between a kingdom and an empire. The reoppenning of the land to mistwalkers is helping them rebuild.

In every land I have traveled to, there have been celestialists offering wards for sale, usually at the cost of 1 gold coin. Are there any such offers in your lands?

Thank you again for your helpful words. I hope that your forrests are healing well from the scars of war, and that your giant redwoods are prospering,
Sornelintion of the Ash Forest

There aren't many here who offer the service of selling wards, and there isn't the typical setup of guilds and nobles here as there are in other lands. This Barran place, it sounds, still had civilization when the mists opened back up. It's not the case here. If no other celestialist hears your plea and is willing to sell their services, I can provide you a ward the second night of the gather; my first night's is already spoken for. I'm far more proficient a ritualist than spellcaster.

And the war here isn't over. We walked into the middle of elementals vying to claim this land as their own, and they'll gladly add you to an army. This is, I guarantee, not like anywhere you've adventured before.

While you're here, if you require an item or yourself be identified, seek out Lachsias, a male tall stone elf, or Akemi, a female white wolfkyn. There isn't a circle (and probably won't be soon, elementals find and destroy all the circles they can), we have other means of identification.
