From the Producers of G4 Underground....

Below is an e-mail from one of the producers of G4 Underground regarding how Alliance and LARPing will be portrayed. I hope this gives our players some reassurance:

<<< Hey Eric-

Absolutely we have NO INTENTIONS of mocking any Larping players. The show is a new concept for G4 and frankly the people that Larp will be watching this show as well as other programming on G4. We will be following 3 players who have respectful jobs and have been larping for many years.

We did a segment on Real life superheroes and some may look at them as CRAZY but we look at it through their eyes and show what a great service they do and just document what they do.

Our show is gritty and raw and real. We pose no opinions and no skewed views and I hope that you can relay this to all the players. We are very excited to show a different side of Larping and try to break the mold of stereotyping the players.

I will call you in the a.m. to re-iterate this, and answer any questions you may have. It would serve us no purpose to do negative story or to poke fun at anyone!

Thanks again!!! >>>

As always, if you have any questions, please let me know.

Sounds sincere. How were they on the phone call Eric?

They were fine on the phone calls I've had with them. I truly do not expect any issues from them. But as I said, we'll keep a close eye on things during filming and if anyone sees anything that looks off while they're there, please let me know.

The only problem is that all the mockery can be done post-filming.

But hopefully it will work out in a good fashion.

If this is for G4 Underground the commercials seem to be taking their filming seriously.

As long as you get it in writing you are all good.

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure that I cannot get them to sign an agreement not to "mock" us. Mockery is pretty subjective.

Did you sign a waver? I hope you signed something. At least keep the emails you got. The waver usually says that you agree to be put on air (nothing realy about content though).

there are waivers. Some of the folks involved and the faireplay staff are still going over everything with the producers to get the logistics of all of this sorted out, but from what I understand right now, they are looking to have everyone at the event sign or not sign a waiver and get pics of everyone so they can go back in post production edit out the folks of those who do not want to be featured. Most likely the waivers are going to be at logistics and my team will be making sure the all of this runs smoothly (fingers crossed). We'll know more this weekend after another phone conference.

So with the cameras going to be around I won't be caught dead in horns and ears. That would be like social suicide to me.

I am however going to represent our long in tooth green men. Which leads to my question, think they will lend me a makeup girl?

I promise to give her back in one piece.

Only if I get one too.

Just to clarify, the pictures that G4 takes will be used to identify those people who do *not* want to be on film. During editing they will use the pictures as a reference to make sure that you are not on film, if that is your request.

I recommend that all our players make it very clear to the G4 producers regarding whether or not you want to be on camera. If you don't want to be in the segment, even at a distance for, say, a battle shot, make it clear. So don't freak out if the camera is looming near you and you don't want to be on film. Don't call a "hold" and scurry out of the way or slip out of character.

Also, bear in mind that they will likely be filming a lot just to edit it down to a few minutes of actual screen time.

Lastly, I'd like to appeal to our players to really "bring it" for this event. Great costuming and great role-playing will create a great atmosphere for the game. Stay in character as best you can. Die with realism if you can instead of just dropping to one knee and saying "I'm down" (I understand that there are those with health and/or physical issues where this is not easily achievable... just do the best you can).

If there are any issues or concerns during the event, please come to me and I will handle it.

Thanks in advance to our awesome players. Without you, this game is not possible.
