FYI to All Drivers

I work for a moderate sized trucking company and I just saw a memo come through the safety department which you might wish to be aware of. It seems October 19-25 2008 is Operation Safe Driver

taken from memo: (removed all the commercial stuff)

Operation Safe Driver Increases:

Non Commercial safe vehicle driver enforcement
Safety Belt enforcement activity

Objectives:

Take enforcement action against non commercial drivers operating in an unsafe manner around trucks and busses

Just thought this might be useful and trust me there was a lot more targetting commercial drivers.

Thats actually covered in the parts I cut out. they are definately targetting fatigued drivers and actually they have some stringent rules about that.

Tks for the heads up Will

And remember, if you get stopped:

1. Be nice and cooperative with the officer but DON'T ADMIT ANYTHING.

2. If the officer asks if he can search your car and you don't want him to, say no.

3. If it happened in PA and you get a ticket, give me a call. I do this for a living, you know....

Hey Mike, if a cop on a motorcycle pulls you over saying you were speeding but he can't prove it (no radar gun) how well can that hold up in court? All I got was a verbal warning out of the deal. He insisted I was doing 40 in a 25 zone, when in reality I was doing about 29-31. He was a couple blocks behind me and I witnessed him running a red light in order to speed up to me (he didn't have his flashing lights on). I knew instantly he was a cop even a couple blocks behind me due to the way cop's headlights are on motorcycles. He even tried to have a conversation with me next to my car while we were both driving, but I ignored him for safety reasons until he got so pissed off that he turned his lights on and told me to pull over. His argument was he was doing 40mph. I'm sure he was to have caught up to me so fast when he was two blocks behind.

BTW, I am one of the few out there who has gotten the Cop Trifecta. I've been pulled over by a cop car, cop motorcycle, and a cop bicycle! All three times I avoided tickets. :D The bicycle incident involved me almost killing the guy when I turned in front of him at an intersection while he was apparently trying to go straight. Sorry copper, I didn't notice you on the road seeing how it was 12:30AM and poorly lit!

what did you get the ticket for?
86 in a 65?

well then you deserve the ticket. pay yer fine and be glad you didn't kill anyone.
Hey now, I had my 10 seconds of visibility ahead of me. I drive by how far I can see ahead and generally don't look down at the speedometer. Just doesn't work as well on straight clear roads.

If he followed you for a while and looked at his own speedometer, that's good enough.
