This announcement has been on my plate for several days now. I’ve struggled with mixed emotions and botched language. But, several drafts later here we are:
I am writing here to announce that Christina Velderman has resigned as the Chairperson of Alliance LARP.
Let me pre-emptively slow down the rumor-mill: there is no drama, angst, or hard feelings prompting this change. This is a natural transition based on volunteer availability and the needs of the organization, and should be treated as such.
Christina has been the Alliance Chair for about a year and a half . During her tenure she has hosted a National Symposium, significantly streamlined our operations processes, overseen a rules revision, brought onboard volunteers to represent chapters from all around the United States, and helped expand the breadth of our organization to help it grow for the future.
Christina will be missed. She has had a profound and lasting impact on our organization and many of its members (myself included). I would ask that you join me in wishing Christina well in her future endeavors.
With every change of this nature, the transition is bittersweet – for, as we reluctantly end one phase we are beginning another with bright promise.
To that end, and with Christina and Mike Ventrella both fully recommending and supporting this shift, I am very pleased to share that Michelle Stagnitta has graciously accepted the invitation to serve as the Alliance Chair.
Michelle has held multiple leadership roles at our HQ chapter including tenure as their Head of Plot and, most recently, as their General Manager. She has also been involved for the last year on the National level by serving as the Chair of the Alliance Moderator Committee.
I’ll let Michelle tell you more, but I know that she is excited to take up the reigns and help elevate AllianceLARP to the next level. Please join me in welcoming her to her new role!
