Hey, folks. Been looking into Seattle area LARPs and it looks like yours is one of the only active ones out there. Only issue I am having is the main website seems to not be working. All I get is a blank, white page. So, I know its a fantasy LARP and...thats about it. Any info about rules or about when the main page will be back would be appreciated.

While you won't get a lot of local flavor, you can certainly get a lot of info from alliancelarp.com, our parent site. Alliance Seattle is part of a larger group of games called Alliance LARP and there's many benefits (as well as the occasional headache :P) that go along with it. Including a site that has a ton of pictures and other good info.

Alliancelarp.com is also the site for the headquarters game, so there may be some info about their campaign on there. It's great for getting a fell of the game and it's general setting, but not so good for the local info/feel.

I'm sure we would be happy to answer any questions you may have, either on here, or over the phone.

Is there anything in particular you are looking for, or curious about?

Well, my main concern is the rules set. I know nothing about it. I see a few books linked off alliancelarp.com. Are those necessary or is their a free version to be had? When/where/how often are events held?

There isn't a free copy of the rules, but you might be able to borrow a book from someone. If you wanted to buy one, it sounds like we have a new rulebook coming out in March. It might be worth waiting until then, as there will be some heavy changes in it.

Events usually run from Fri evening to Sun morning. We have one of these pretty much every other month. There's a schedule under the announcements forum. Events are generally held at Millersylvania camp site (exit 95 off 1-5) of Camp Shepperd (Over by Mt. Rainier.)

There are also gamedays, which happen on either a Saturday or a Sunday, and run for 4+ hours. The majority of these take place at Hamlin park in Seattle. Gamedays are usually planned a couple weeks before they happen. We seem to average one a month.

One good way to get an understanding of the rules without buying a book is to show up to a game day and get a free introduction to the rules from a rules marshal. I know there are quite a few of us who would be happy to show you how the rules work, and at least give you a good intro with some sparring practice.

And if game days don't work out for you, you can get in touch with me and I'll make time on an evening/weekend to just have my brain picked.

Remember,
You can pick your friends,
You can pick your friend's brains,
but you can't.. wait... dang, that didn't work out at all.
Nevermind, next time I'll follow that up with a zombie joke.
